mute button on top of screen

Hi please help

My son cannot hear anything from his headset which is new and there is a mute sign with slash in it on top right hand side of screen by the battery sign. I do not have a clue what to do and desperate for some help. Is there a number I could use to phone
to ask for help??? Many thanks and hoping somewhere somehow someone can help us.

@ Blue illusion... pro tip... the mute button on the chat adapter or OEM headset is on top and very large as it acts like an extra button... with one swipe of your thumb... MUTE MIC.. NEED AMMO (bf4) Swipe thumb again UNMUTE MIC..back to chat.. none the

Not given the option to take screenshots or record game footage

That really long menu on the left should have a section to the right of it (sort of middle top of the screen)/

Just hit the Xbox button twice only and you should see those two buttons. Unless of course it goes off the top of the screen.

Make sure the controller is fully updated with the headset attached.

Once you have done that if are still having an issue try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for
5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.

A suggested start for troubleshooting would be a console restart.

The process for this is

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Note Pressing the Xbox button will open the guide from any other screen on the console.

Select Settings.

Select Restart console.

Select Yes to confirm.

You may also request a callback through the Support.Xbox.com site.

Try creating a party and on the top page of the party screen you should see a button to un-mute. See if that comes up for you and use it to un-mute your mic. If not try the link below.
