Mute button on screen can not detect mic

Discus and support Mute button on screen can not detect mic in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; my sons Xbox one s has the mute sign instead of headphones and can not detect mic so can not go live with his friends please help since found out...     I can't talk after suspension has been lifted. Xbox one.

    ***in the photo in my above post, this is from the perspective of my friend mace *** on my screen I can see no mute button and my mic is lighting up like normal.

    Xbox One Mic Stuck on mute?

    My mic mute button was lit up and didnt work. So I updated it and now the mute button flashs and still doesnt work. What does that mean?

    Headset: Can hear friends, but mic won't detect my voice. Tried 2 headsets. Kinect mic works!

    Also, if I record a voice message, Xbox says no mic detected; check to see if your mic is muted.

    It's NOT muted!

    It sounds to me like your mic is muted like you muted your self you can fix this and check it if you start a party chat the screen will open up your gamer pic will show up with it grayed out with the mic with a circle with a line through it stating that
    your muted to fix you can hit the Y button or press a and select unmute let me know if this works

    Did you happen to accidentally tap the "y" button while the party screen was open? that mutes your mic when the tab is pulled up
