Music Pass

Just finished a 2 hour chat with customer service. When we first got our XBOX in 2014 I purchased Music Pass. What I believe happened was that I was logged in as my daughter the first time. Then I went to play Music, logged in as myself, but it was not activated.
Thinking it had not gone through the first time, I purchased music pass under my account using PayPal instead of the credit card. I then cancelled my account 4 months later, but didn't realize I was still being charged on my daughters account until the wife
saw it on the card and said she thought we canceled the Music Pass (22 months later).

I know I probably won't find much sympathy here for not monitoring the credit card more closely, but I was kind of blown away by the lack of sympathy from Customer Service. At first, it was going well and the rep offered a refund on my daughters account

but I guess she saw how many months it was and changed her mind. They kept saying I should of checked
Commerce.Microsoft.com to see if there were charges. I kept explaining that I was checking my account and didn't know my daughter had a card attached to hers.

I guess my question is this plausible? Is that easy to mistakenly add a payment method to another account on the XBOX ONE. Did I just miss some options when setting up a child account? BTW - I do monitor my daughters email (she's 11) and not one renewal
notice was sent to her account email. She did get the XBOX update emails though.

I believe so! Do you have an XBOX Music Pass? This pass allows you to sync and download items throughout 4 devices.

If you do have a pass, can you check which devices you have linked? Here are instructions on how to do so!

Sorry to hear it. But this happens more than you would think. People do quite often run into situations like this where they think they are one account when they buy something but are actually on another.

The best thing to do here is, when you find out that you don't have access to what you purchased, immediately call support or check out commerce.microsoft.com to figure out what happened.
