Music Pass on WP Ongoing Issues

I have been a Music Pass sub for years. Matter of fact I still have a grandfathered pass account. I have been using Windows Phone since launch of WP7 and currently have a Lumia Icon that is 2 weeks old. Just "upgraded" from a lumia 928. I have bothered
the hell out of @XboxSupport regarding this issue and was directed by @winphonesupport to post here.

I've had an ongoing problem for months that has seemed to get worse in the last month. I cant seem to stay signed in. It takes forever .... FOREVER!! to sign in to my pass on my phone (and sometimes my Surface RT and Window 8.1 PC and laptop. This stretches
MULTIPLE devices with the signing in but is the worse on my phone.

I have done the troubleshooting steps on the phone from date/time manual setting (which I don't quite fully understand how the hell that would help specifically), rebooting, soft reset, HARD reset, to even swapping out my phone for another device. ALL of
WHICH are registered devices in my "MANAGE DEVICE list" under xbox.com. And yes... I am using only one, and the same one, Microsoft account on each and every device. I seem to be asked that constantly when tweeting support.

So why when I open the music app on my lumia phone (and this happened on both the 928 and icon/929) that I cannot get to my "RADIO" list? It is always blank. It remains blank or sometimes after about 30-60 seconds will tell me to "connect to wifi or allow
my data settings to use celluar". I can confirm when this happens I am on wifi and I do allow cell data. Matter of fact I have a large collection and leave it to streaming. Only my playlists are set to "Keep Offline". Which is another thing... when I am not
signed in, I cannot update playlist settings to "keep offline" as this setting is greyed out. It is not greyed out once I get it to sign in, and when that happens my artists are listed in the RADIO section, my confirmation that I am finally signed in.

To get signed in I have tried a simple reboot. Sometimes this works, sometimes not. When not, I do a soft reset (Pwr/VolDown). Sometimes this works and yet sometimes it has not. It really has been hit or miss lately. I have done a hard reset a couple times
and the most recent of course was upgrading my phone just two weeks ago. I actually thought my 928 was the reason and perhaps a faster model would help. It has not. And if it matters, the new icon was not restored from a backup. I set it up as a new device
because I thought just maybe some type of setting was corrupt. The 928 was running latest software with Denim firmware. The icon is running preview for dev (8.1.update)

Once I do get it up and running/signed in (this is what happened tonight), The radio section came up and I choose an artist. The app randomly choose its artists of 20 songs to make the now playing list like it should. It will play 3 or 5 songs (tonight it
was 9) and when it switches to the next one there is a rather long pause and then 30 second clips are played. As if I am signed out. Again.

I am sick and tired of this problem. I am sick and tired of rebooting/resetting every time I want to use my service. I should NOT have to do that. I am at the point that Ive done the troubleshooting and it does sometimes do the quick fix but it is an ongoing
issue. I have 3 other Windows Phones in the home with family members using HTC m8 and a Samsung Ativ SE. Each has their own Music Pass with their own Microsoft accounts ( FOUR SUBS! ) and the other 3 don't have this problem.

Any additional or alternative ideas are welcome to help me sort this out. I am considering "nuking" my collection and everything in it and starting over.

    :)

  2. i cant music to my wp8

What up Player!? Alright. Have you power cycled (turned off then on) your device since activating the Music Pass? Also, did you link the Music Pass to the FIRST Microsoft Account you signed into your WP with?

  3. Can't play DRM subscription content on Windows 8

    Hey DeathFry,

I understand your frustration. Fortunately, there is a pretty simple solution. Below I have listed the steps to migrate your DRM Zune content to Xbox Music. Here is the

    source article
    I got this info from.

    • Open Zune and go to the “Collection” screen
    • Use the drop down filter to show only “Zune Pass content”

    • Click on the “Artists” column and select all (Ctrl+A)
    • Then repeat the process for the “Songs”
    • Right click on the songs and “add to playlist”

    • Make a new playlist called something like “Zune music”
    • The playlist needs to be saved in your Music Library so if it’s not go find it (you can see in Zune settings where it wants to store things) and copy it into the library
    • Next open on Xbox Music and navigate to the “My music” then “Playlists” screen

    • Swipe (or right click) from the bottom to get the context menu and choose “import playlists”

    • Accept the message and you should see your “Zune Music” playlist appear

    • You might also get some duplicates but you can right click to select and delete them

Music Pass on WP Ongoing Issues [IMG]

    • Now highlight (touch, or left click) on the “Zune Music” playlist
    • Have a quick scan up and down the list to make sure it looks like everything has been found (greyed out music can’t be matched online)

    • Click off the list of songs and then select your playlist using right click (or side swipe)
    • Bring up the bottom context menu & you should have the option to “Download”

This will now make Xbox Music go away and re-download all your old Zune Pass songs…

It will place them in your Music library in a folder called “Xbox Music\Xbox Music Pass”
