that article has no quote that the only way to play your music is through the xbox music streaming app, the writer never even states that xbox music is only the default music app, however, he clearly misleads the reader to believe you will not be able to
stream music you own without paying. honestly its some horrendous journalism.

even if ms isnt providing a music streaming app, it will only be a matter of time before one of the many ms approved metro or winp8 music streaming apps is ported to x1.

it should also be noted that the win8p xbox music app allows you to play your own music/mp3s, so id imagine it is only a matter of time before they add this feature to x1 xbox music app.

seeing as the Music app is no longer zune but xbox music now the videos have to be re downloaded through your down load history witch can be found in the account management in the setting part xbox 360..the app you want is xbox music if you click on the
xbox music in the music ssection your xbox 360 should automaticly load the app.the app can also be loaded up on you xbox by going to the music section on you xbox 360 and goto the xbox music section you should be able to get the music app there

Just to verify, are you able to play the ripped music with the Xbox Music app on the PC?

I'm still confused? Is it an App via Kinect to make music or is it an App via Kinect to play a Music Game?

In the new update it stated "Background Music: Today’s update brings the ability for the highly requested feature of Background Music, which lets you listen to your favorite music in the background while gaming on Xbox One. The Pandora app, launching soon,
is the first of many partners who will support Background Music, with Groove Music, iHeartRadio and other apps coming later."

Pandora is coming soon, as stated in the update release. However, there is one current App that will work with this function called CAST, it is a free music app. You can use this now until the other music apps are updated to work with the new Background
Music feature.
