Murdered Soul Suspect

So story driven games shouldnt let you die? Thats an interesting view. Not being able to die or fail is a turn off for me. Its the part of Watchdogs im most dissapointed with there is no punishment for death except having to restart that exact same mission
you were on.

If you cant die is it not more of an interactive story than a game then?

Bring back the days of GTA where if you died you had to go to the mission marker again from the hospital!!

 

You can die in "Murdered Soul Suspect" even though you're already dead.

Restarting from the last checkpoint has been a staple of video gaming since the days of Atari.

Restarting at the hospital in GTA is the checpoint you restart.

The only difference is that in GTA if you mess up and die you go to the hospital and are charged a financial penalty. You can actually work to get that lost money back.

In "Murdered Soul Suspect" if you put a foot wrong in an investigation... that's it. You have ZERO chance of a perfect score for that investigation.

So "Murdered Soul" actually punishes you more severely than "Grand Theft Auto".

 

It's not really punishing though as you can keep guessing, there's no reward for getting the answer first time, it doesn't affect anything, however like I said it's still a great game

 

If I'm playing a shooting game and get shot in the head I expect to die. If I am a Detective and make a wrong decision no I don't expect to die, I expect a consequence but not a death.

 

Im not saying you have to die, just fail the investigation and have to start again. Not simply guess until you get it right.

Going byu your description Genchy you should expect to be sacked if you get it wrong!! Then being a ghost that wouldnt really work.

Seems more of an interactive movie than a game. The reason im so tentative about this game is I was well and truly gutted by LA Noire and this seems similar. Dont wanna buy a game just to feel that all over again.

I guess it depends on what you value in a game i suppose, if your someone who values big scores and cheevos then i guess that is more severe than GTA. For me though failing a mission then having to drive half way across the map was brutal!!

 

I loved LA Noir and would take that over GTA all day long.

 

You felt let down by "L.A. Noire" because people spent 6 months telling you that it was the most sophisticated and amazing game ever because of it's 'advanced lip synching' and was made my Rockstar... even though "Enslaved" had just done the same thing in
their own game with motion captured expressions.

Unlike "L.A. Noire" this game hasn't been ridiculously over-hyped.

Anyway you've got a better idea what's going on now.

You can already pick it up for a decent price but if you wait and pick it up a bit later and get a price all the better for you because it's a great game.

 

Nope i felt let down by LA Noire because you couldnt fail. It wasnt a game it was an interactive story. I honestly didnt even hear of the game until about a month before it was released. I didnt even bother to finish it. I feel this game will go the same
way but thanks to those that have provided feedback and allowed me to come to a decision.

 

I didn't finish LA Noire either, found it tedious and long-winded at the time. Really enjoyed Murdered Soul Suspect though...

 

I will pick it up at some point the ghost solving his own murder storyline has got me intrigued. Just guna wait until its a little cheaper.

 

This is one of the best games ive played in a long time, exactly the sort of game ive been waiting for, i would take this over some so called AAA titles anyday. I was going to say story driven heaven but poor old Ronan's not quite there yet, Really do hope
they make some more games with this premise

I tend to find the games i enjoy the most are the more obscure titles, deadly premonition and still life for example, grab this and support the devs, we need more games like this imo

 

Finally got around to picking this up, 20 notes for it currently at base.com limited edition to boot. Positive word here and the lower price, with lowered expectation - expecting to get some enjoyment out of it at least
