  1. Multiple Xbox's (5) subscriptions and game sharing

    Good Day!

So this year for xmas my kids wanted their own xboxone's

I already have 2 xboxeones with my own subscriptions GOLD and another for my eldest daughter and i have purchased 3 more consoles for them. (one disc version and 2the discless versions)

Now each of these consoles i have subscriptions 2 gold and 3 gamepass versions.

So question 1. This is 5 lots of paying out cash for subscriptions within the same household £6.99 x 2 and 3 lots of £10.99 when their 3 month trial expires. Is there a better way to subscribe to save a little cash???? like a family account using 1 subscription
for the 5 accounts or even 2 or 3 machines under one sub?

Question 2: with all xbox's having subs. and mine being set to the home / master machine can i share games to all my xboxes with access to any multiplayer content ? i presume i can do it for one machine as per

    https://www.thewindowsclub.com/share-xbox-one-games-with-family-with-multiple-consoles

But i dont fully understand a few things.

For example, can i share to more than 1 machine at a time using the same method? or is there another method for further machines? or maybe its not possible for more machines?

Secondly the way i read the post, i need to set the machines who want to play the game as the home /master machine each time? or do i need to only do this each time i install and that once installed i can reset my machine to master?

Hope somone can help me with this information as i dont find the xbox website very intuitive...

    Kind regars

    Dave

    :)

Multiple Xbox's (5) subscriptions and game sharing

    Hi Dave,

Although all of the information you are looking for can be found here; https://beta.support.xbox.com/help/hardware-network/console/my-home-xbox,
I'll do my best to answer all of your questions.

There is no way to share your subscriptions to multiple accounts added to a Microsoft Family. Every account can only designate one Xbox as the account's home console, sharing the content that account owns to all of the other accounts on that console only.
Due to this limitation, your main account which is paying for all of the subscriptions can only share the content it owns with one other console in your home.

If everyone else who owns a console has their own account and independently uses a certain console, then they will need to have a paid-for subscription to access the features of that subscription on their own accounts. Every account has 5 switches every
year, so you can only switch to a different home console and share your content with a different console, 5 times in one year. After the 5th switch, your account would be locked from changing the designated home console.

The feature is meant for a family to share games and subscriptions between one shared family home console, not multiple consoles where each family member has their own Xbox. Allowing one license to be shared with multiple consoles is not a smart business
practice and would cause game developers to lose a lot of money if this was allowed for every household. Some game developers don't even allow certain content they make to be shared in this way and you need to buy a license for every account.

If you have any other questions, please let us know but I highly suggest reading the official support article on the home console sharing that I linked above.

First, thank you for the reply, i appreciate your time. and happy new year!!!

    And secondly for my response.......

So the one person share is essentially the method described in that link? or is there a better way?

what do you mean 5 shares altogether? do you mean although i can only share with one person at a time but share with 5 people? each 1 at a time?

And what about the subscriptions question?

there is 5 of us with xbox's is there no way to pay one or 2 subs to reduce our outgoings? i mean 3 game passes and 2 lives is alot for us due to family being with children with special needs.

    kind regards

    Dave

Sharing game pass ultimate with family over two consoles in the same house

    Hey,

Unfortunately, an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription can only be shared on a single console, when you have multiple accounts on multiple consoles you'd need to purchase a separate subscription unfortunately.

Why am I unable to play two different games under a shared xbox family account? Why is there a one game at a time rule?

Hi Jane2550, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

Just a friendly reminder though that the Home Xbox feature is per console which means that if the games and subscriptions are purchased on your account, you can play your games as well as a subscription in any of the consoles that you own but with sharing your games and subscriptions, you can only share it with 1 console at a time and you will have 5 switches per year.

There is an Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family subscription wherein you can share the subscription with 4 people but currently Microsoft is piloting this plan in Colombia and the Republic of Ireland. According to Microsoft future countries/regions might be added in the next months.

To summarize, if you have multiple consoles, you may need to choose one console where you will be sharing your games and subscription.
