I have a young adult son for whom we just purchased an xbox one s. We live in the same home, but I am for all intents and purposes, the admin on our family account. I understand that you need to watch for licensing etc., but I have purchased two complete
copies of Destiny, one for the old xbox and one for the new xbox one s, and it's still telling him that the person who purchased the item has to be signed in. For a work around, we just leave me signed in all the time, but I think you guys need to rethink
how this will be handled in the future. I purchase games, my son might purchase the DLC, depending on who is totally hooked on the game at the moment and/or has money in their account. I made absolutely sure that we would own two separate licenses for Destiny,
since it's a game we would like to play together. For other games, only one of us would play at a time, so just like a book, whomever is using it.

Thank you for reading my rant. As technology advances, and life situations are changing (more adults living at home, more husbands and wives who enjoy gaming together etc) The companies that provide those technologies will have no choice but to change also.
I for one don't mind spending the extra for dual licenses, if it means we both get to enjoy it.

    :)

    Hi,
I'm looking to get either the Xbox one or the PS4. The console would be used by many different users, at a house that gets rented out, so most people won't be using it for that long. I'm an on and off gamer, and would be fine with either for my own personal use, so it comes down to which is easiest for new users to set up/play and which has the better library of family friendly titles to find something for everyone. I've looked at all the comparisons and read the reviews, but haven't found anything that helps my current situation, so I thought I would ask. Thanks!

    Hey there -

    The Xbox One has the
    Home Console
system which is designed for families with multiple users/consoles to share games across consoles without needing to purchase the same game multiple times. Making sure that is set up correctly should alleviate many of the issues you're outlining
    regarding sharing games.

Regarding Destiny and needing to be logged in - Do you own multiple copies of the game digitally or on disc? If it's a digital copy, double check that your purchase for the game went through using the account in question's
Microsoft Commerce account or the account's

    My Games
    section.

Let us know if that helps or if you have other questions we can help with. Multiple xboxes, multiple users. :)

Hey there AwareTen, if both of your boys want to be able to play games online then you would need two gold accounts or they could share an account if thats the way you want to go. Another option which may be appropriate for your family situation is to set
up a family gold subscription. This will allow you to retain parental control, and allow for yourself, and your two boys to have a gold membership at a discounted rate :)

Are multiple installations of minecraft necessary for multiple computer users?

    Hello nabenking,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I read the entire thread you posted here in its entirety.

I noticed that there were multiple Microsoft accounts on the same computer, so the first thing I needed to confirm was:

Do your kids use your Microsoft account to log into the computer, and then use their Microsoft account to log into Minecraft Launcher to access the game?

Or do they use their Microsoft account to log into the computer first, and then try to use their Microsoft account to log into Minecraft Launcher and try to get into the game?

In the former case, the problem does not exist.

But if the latter is the case, consider where Minecraft is installed. Whether it is installed in a public location, such as disk D; It's still installed in a restricted location.

When I was testing this issue, I found that when I tried to download and install Minecraft Launcher from the Microsoft Store, the default installation path was:

    c:\XboxGames
If this path is accessible to your children, then they just need to log into the system with their own account, find this path, and open Minecraft Launcher. There is no need to install Minecraft multiple times.

Also, it doesn't make sense to share only the shortcut, as this would result in the path not being found.

    Best regards,
