  1. Multiple Xbox Ones?

My son travels between my house and his mom's every day and stays with me overnight two days a week. In the past he just carried his games and a flash drive with his profile on it for the Xbox 360 back and forth and played on a different console at each
house. Now that he is playing an Xbox ONE, he's been carrying the whole console back and forth because we only have the one ONE. Are there any difficulties involved with having multiple Xbox Ones? Is his profile always in the cloud or will he need to load
it onto a flash drive like he did with the 360? I just want this issue nailed down before I invest in another Xbox One. Thay ain't cheap. Thanks in advance for any help offered here.

    :)

    Multiple xboxes, multiple users.

    Hey there -

    The Xbox One has the
    Home Console
system which is designed for families with multiple users/consoles to share games across consoles without needing to purchase the same game multiple times. Making sure that is set up correctly should alleviate many of the issues you're outlining
    regarding sharing games.

Regarding Destiny and needing to be logged in - Do you own multiple copies of the game digitally or on disc? If it's a digital copy, double check that your purchase for the game went through using the account in question's
Microsoft Commerce account or the account's

    My Games
    section.

Let us know if that helps or if you have other questions we can help with. Multiple Xbox Ones? :)

I have a young adult son for whom we just purchased an xbox one s. We live in the same home, but I am for all intents and purposes, the admin on our family account. I understand that you need to watch for licensing etc., but I have purchased two complete
copies of Destiny, one for the old xbox and one for the new xbox one s, and it's still telling him that the person who purchased the item has to be signed in. For a work around, we just leave me signed in all the time, but I think you guys need to rethink
how this will be handled in the future. I purchase games, my son might purchase the DLC, depending on who is totally hooked on the game at the moment and/or has money in their account. I made absolutely sure that we would own two separate licenses for Destiny,
since it's a game we would like to play together. For other games, only one of us would play at a time, so just like a book, whomever is using it.

Thank you for reading my rant. As technology advances, and life situations are changing (more adults living at home, more husbands and wives who enjoy gaming together etc) The companies that provide those technologies will have no choice but to change also.
I for one don't mind spending the extra for dual licenses, if it means we both get to enjoy it.

  4. Multiple Xbox Ones?

Hi there my suggestion would be to invest in an external hard drive if you're going to buy another Xbox one.

The profiles...you will want to download it to each console as you cannot transfer the profile on a hard drive or flash drive as of yet.

you can only be on one console at a time with your profile and will not be able to log into both consoles simultaneously.

If all purchases are under your sons account there should not be any issues with him having access to any games or apps. If all purchases are under your account and your son is using a child account you may want to look at some of the support pages about
    sharing, home console, etc.

So in short before making a purchase on the Xbox one help us understand if the game licenses are disk or if they are digital.

If they are digital please reply with what profile owns each game is it your profile or your son's profile.

  5. This is as it stands now on the 360: Both I and my son have Xbox Live individually. We both have downloadable content and we both have games, some we share and some we don't. Right now my son takes his games and his jump drive with him wherever he goes
so he has his profile and saved games. He plays on a 360 console at his grandmothers (the Star Wars console) and he has a 360 console at my house and another one at his mom's house. Are the Xbox One profiles kept completely in the cloud or are they stored
on the individual hard drives of the consoles? If we were to get a console to have at another household (so one stays here and I can use it with my profile) will my son need to (or be able to) put his profile on a jump drive (or external hard drive) or will
he simply be able to pull it from the cloud where ever he's at?

  6. The XBox One console, how it handles xbox live profiles and how those profiles and moved to other xbox one consoles is very different than the xbox 360.

It may help to spend some time
    here
    , and then go into
    support articles
specific to any questions you may have after reading.

In short, you cannot put a profile on a jump drive, etc. (it requires them to be downloaded to each console using the internet only)

You also need to think about digital vs. disc purchases based on what meets your needs. (I don't want to input my preferences onto your family)

I would recommend specifically looking at the following:

    -Getting Started with XBox One

    -Signing In

    -Xbox One Family

    -Xbox One Home Console and
    Usage Rules

This is a lot but I'm careful not to "sale" you on anything, but instead try and point you to information. If you have specifics, feel free to reply or drop into a live chat session.

  7. also...make sure your son has a Live account and not just a xbox 360 profile. Meaning...his account is downloadable via Xbox Live rather than just a profile on an xbox360 as most kids have.

The Xbox One will require you to create a"child" account as you can't just let your son use your profile because once he logs in somewhere else, it logs you out.

Also, there are financial and privacy reasons that this would not be recommended.

Yes, you can use both consoles at the same time, with out any issues, as long as different accounts are being used, for example, you use your account on your Xbox One S, and your kids use theirs on the Xbox One S.

Correct. On the One X you will have to be online to play your games, but other than that, you will be able to continue playing as you already have been.

And that's also correct about the game pass games.
