Multiple Xbox One Consoles on Destiny - Need Open NAT on all - Centipede error

Hi all, We have three Xbox One consoles in our house, and we need to get Open NAT on all of them to be able to play each other on Xbox LIVE. At the moment, when two or more consoles are on at the same time, all consoles show Moderate NAT and we get booted
from the Destiny servers for "Centipede" (NAT) errors. Sometimes this happens even when consoles have Open NAT. We currently have a TP-LINK TD-W8968 wireless modem router, and we get the feeling this is the problem - maybe the UPnP isn't good enough to handle
all three at the same time and give them Open NAT. Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

    :)

Problems With Multiple Xbox One's and Open NAT

It comes down to each ip only having 1 nat port . You cannot run multiple machines behind the same ip and have open nat on multiple machines . you will need to run a multi port switch with multiple ip address from your isp to have open nat on
every machine . You can have a open nat and restricted nats and blocked nats all running at the same time .behind one ip address . it comes down to direct play inside direct x basically xbox live can only have direct play open once per each Ip address .

I've opened ALL ports in mijn router and stil i have

    NAT type: Strict

Multiplayer test: Cannot get a Teredo IP Adress

Detailed NAT information: Your network is behind a firewall (or not connected)

I can play for a few minutes en than I will be kicked out do to connection fail

Yes not all router can handle multiple consoles with open NATs.

It appears that most router manufacturers have poorly implemented UPnP that can't handle more than on Xbox.

Also some routers can't even handle the demonware port mapping that Activision games use meaning they can have Nat problems while Xbox dashboard shows open.

Unfortunately there is no way to get round this if your routers UPnP is to blame as you can't use port forwarding for multiple Xboxes.

Your problem is probably caused by blacks op 2 on ps3.

For some reason Activision games on PlayStation always try to open port 3074 using demonware port mapping via UPnP.

Problem is that Xbox live also needs port 3074. This means you get mapping conflicts and a moderate or strict Nat on Xbox.

Again its down to poor UPnP support on your router. I get the same thing with my old netgear router. Cod on ps3 caused strict Nat on 360.

I have two consoles myself and can only play on one at a time. It's very frustrating. I have not been able to find ANY information on the port or network requirements of the Azure hosted games such as Destiny.

It's possibly related to uPnP or maybe IPsec.

An IPv6 connection pretty much eliminates the NAT issue?

Multiple consoles on one router are only able to use UPnp to get connected simultaneously. This usually gives a moderate NAT, which in most cases is enough to play online together. Only known exception to me is CoD where you cannot join the same game lobby
due to the special network implementation of CoD itself.

    @Monitor Chakas

The problems with getting disconnected from the destiny server is afaik a known problem with their servers and not your network environment. I know several people (couples) playing together coop with moderate NAT without problems.

    @Jimmyakaskippy

Your problem is the teredo filter of your router. I posted you an answer to your problem in your own post on your issue.

    @Slaggg

Unfortunately an IPv6 connection is not solving the problem but can make it even worse. There are routers which are unable to serve two consoles by UPnp simultaneously. There is a list with routers in the network hardware section of this forum: forums.xbox.com/.../default.aspx
where you can check für your router.

Please keep in mind, that it is not possible to configure portforwardings or DMZ while using more than one Xbox in the same network, no matter of its a One or a 360. It's also not possible to play on two One with the same gamertag at the same time.

to my understanding, you can only have ONE open NAT per public IP address. My brother lives with me and we both have an X1 so I got around this my setting my cable modem as a transparent bridge, I then setup two separate routers, one for this console and
one for mine. Next, I assigned static IP address to both our consoles, and I was then able to do port forwarding for both consoles because each of our routers has it's own public IP address.

Not sure if that makes any sense... As for Destiny, well Bungie is having all sorts of issues in-house because we have a stable 100Mbps connection, all of our ports are properly forwarded and we have open nat AND WE STILL CAN'T COMPLETE A SINGLE STRIKE WITHOUT
    GETTING DISCONNECTED!!! GRRRRRR!!!!!

Crucibles for some reason work fine, but Strikes are plagued with connection issues.

These are indeed some great blogposts on this issue you did there. Am I allowed to link them for further reference on future support posts?

    Just two thoughts on that:

    1. Are you using an additional network switch on the LAN side of the gateway?

    2. Are you using the hosting PC only for the Hyper-V gateway? I think it's some kind of effort to have a server running just for that purpose. Do you think this can also be done with some older pieces of hardware? I once worked in a teaching center where
we used pretty old x386 hardware to run IPCop proxy software on, so would it be possible to use, let's say some old Linux machine with a different virtualizer and emulate the router there?

  12. Bungie currently has the game servers offline doing backend updates to help connection issues. Hopefully this will help with the issues some of you are having.

Absolutely, I wrote those posts to help the community so feel to link to them if you think they will help.

    My network looks like this:

ADSL Modem --- Server (virtual DD-Wrt)

    |

    --Normal 24 ports 1GBit Switch

    |

    |-- Xbox One (1)

    |-- Xbox One (2)

    |-- PC (1)

    |-- PC (2)

    |-- PC (3)

    |-- Wireless AccessPoint (1)

    |-- Wireless AccessPoint (2)

My server has to be turned on all the time or the virtual router will be down, which in my case was not a problem as the server was already running 24x7 doing other stuff. I know hyper-v well and that's why I used it, though you can also use
any other virtualization engine, for example on Linux.

And it would also be possible to use an older less powerful device you may have around.

As the router needs just up to 64MB of ram (mine is using 34mb at the moment), it's possible to run the DD-WRT on a old laptop or anything you have around that can boot Linux (doesn't have to be virtual! It can even be physical and run directly on the hardware).

It's even possible to boot it from a USB Stick. I've thought about trying to use my Raspberry-Pi (Raspberry Pi — Teach, Learn, and Make with Raspberry Pi) as a router (there is Open-WRT support for it) but that's a project for
some cold, dark day during the winter.

**2 XBOX ONES ON A SINGLE NETWORK PLAYING TOGETHER FIX**

Well, after spending about 3 hours going through multiple solutions...i created a hybrid solution and it worked! A few things before i explain how i accomplished this problem.

    1. I always had both xbox ones with a NAT type of OPEN. Don't know WHY it never worked, but i was able to join my roommate's party, but unable to join his fire team in destiny.

    2. I have a Cisco Linksys WRT120N.

    3. I tried doing the uPnP method that is floating around the internet with no luck

    Here's how I solved it....

Quick and Dirty: I hooked up a Second router to my network (I had a few laying around) using these directions:

    www.justanswer.com/.../79ib6-hi-purchased-d-link-n300-dir-605l-router-secondary.html

I disabled uPnP on both routers. Connected The 1st xbox one to the existing router (wireless) and the 2nd xbox one to the newly installed router. NOTE: Ensure port triggering, port forwarding and any other option under the "Application and Gaming" tab
    is disabled.

Note: the second router i used was a Linksys WRT54G

I figured since we had uPnP enabled on 1 router to support two Xbox ones...would we need to enable if it was just one xbox one on the network? Each router is it's own network, but obviously reverts back to the same gateway. I didn't think it would work
because of that, but having each xbox one on it's own router seemed to do the trick. Act as if each xbox isn't even in the same household and it's the only xbox one assigned to that router.

It worked for me...hopefully this helps everyone! Hit me up if you have any questions. I am by no means a super techy networking guy...i dabble in this stuff for fun. So if you come at me with crazy questions i may not be able to answer them. I apologize
    up front.
