Multiple Xbox Consoles and GamePass Subscription

Comment: Microsoft has made multiple iterations of the Xbox One console. As such, I have upgraded to and Xbox One X and got my sons their own Xbox One Ss. The concept of "Home Console" for Xbox One GamePass is severely limiting because it limits the home
to only wanting to purchase a single Xbox One (not a good idea MSFT) - I would like to have one family subscription which includes the potential for multiple family members to play on their own profile (not having to log in the primary account holder into
each TV/console simultaneously (which due to the DRM is not possible)) with access to the full library/benefits of the XBox Game Pass subscription at each console. This could be navigated through the Family account feature and some internet hoob-a-joob - to
show these devices are all connecting to the Internet from the same home / router.

This 'benefit' would encourage families to buy multiple consoles and setup multiple TVs.

Question: Why, in the age of Hulu / Netflix / Disney+, etc. - Does MSFT seem to discourage owning more than one Xbox in a home with the structure of its services? You should encourage the proliferation of Xboxes (sp?) and want a single home to have many
accounts. Is there a way to do this NOW that I am unaware? Are there plans to remedy this?

First off, I lost it at "hoob-a-joob". Love it. Never heard that one.

Second, I do support an idea of a better option for Family Plan. They are flexible with the Home Console and with the Play Anywhere titles, in that it'll allow you to have another account play on the Home Console, your account play on a different console,
and then on top of that have the option for someone to play on PC for the Play Anywhere titles in some cases. That being said, I wish there was an option, similar to what Hulu and Netflix have, which is to buy your way up to be able to play on more screens
simultaneously. I have two kids and two consoles in the house, and at this age, in conjunction with the games they want to play, it's worked out great with me on PC, them on both consoles, and we can generally play together. Minecraft and Sea of Thieves
mostly.

But that could be limited by their rights as the platform holder and the agreements they have with publishers. If they were to expand it, but it was only First Party Titles, then that could get confusing as to why you can do it with game A, but not game
B, etc.

Either way, I would like to see more options to expand features, even if it was a family bundle of Xbox Live Gold, or Game Pass, or Ultimate for multiple accounts at a reduced rate.

Microsoft had a family option in the past, I don't recall the reason they do not offer it now. If you think about it they do allow you to do the same thing as most streaming services. The 'Home Xbox' concept allows you to share games across two systems.
Services like Netflix and others do the same and limit the number of streams you can have going at any given time.

I am in the same situation as you. I have my X and my two sons have S versions. I run two Gold accounts and two GamePass subscriptions. This allows all three of us to play together. My oldest has the Xbox that my youngest plays on setup as his 'Home
Xbox' so anyone that logs in gets full Gold access and can play the digital games in my oldest sons library. My oldest uses the other Xbox and being he is logged in each time he can download and play games with his brother.

I have an older Xbox in my media room that is setup as my Home Xbox but I normally use the one in my office. If a friend is over, they can log in to the media room and play my games and digital library most of which is similar to my oldest sons.

Thank you - that is a problem. I think MSFT needs to address this systematically. Apple's App-Sharing Featuring across its iOS devices is a much better model to follow.

Basically, if Home is set on one console then no one needs to have the account that purchased the content signed in on that console while they play.

On the other console that is not Home the account that purchased the content or membership would need to be signed in so the content can be shared.

If you have 3 consoles and you play online as well as your children then I'm afraid that at least 2 copies of memberships and games would be required if everyone wants to play at the same time.

Whilst i might not have the most ideal solution to your question.

What if your sons game share with each other? So each son sets each others profile as home console. With 1 games pass subscription they will be able to share games, gold etc without the hassle of the primary holder having to be signed in.

I know it doesn't count for the whole family but perhaps another member from the community can suggest something.

Also with Netflix you could get the subscription to watch on 4 devices i think it is. So you'd all be able to watch separately on your consoles without the hassle of signing in and out on each device.
