multiple issues with xbox live and system settings

my unit says it needs to download a new update, but it doesnt connect to do the update. I tested my connection and even did a hardwire to the LAN port and it gets to the internet but not to xbox live. I went to the settings menu and it doesnt let me get
into Account tab. It is greyed out, same with Privacy. I have reseated the hard drive and cleared the cache as per prior feedback on other forums. Im mainly looking to know how to enable the Account tab so i can get in there and verify the settings. At
the moment, it cant connect to xbox live and it doesnt download the required updates. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

You could have multiple issues. What happens when you do
Settings | System | Network |
Wired (or the name of your WiFi SSID) | Test Xbox Live Connection ??

Test your Xbox Live connection (Open up Xbox Guide -> System Settings -> Network Settings -> Test Xbox Live Connection). Post back if you're given any error codes or issues with NAT.

 

Do you get an error code of any kind when it gets to the point where the update is refused?

Do you also have enough space on your hard drive? An update needs some free space to perform.

 

This all sounds a little weird. Can you hop over to the Enforcement website and run the console's serial number through the check to make sure this isn't a console ban issue?

Assuming it's not a console ban, you can download the latest console update to a CD/DVD or a flash drive and apply it that way:

support.xbox.com/.../system-updates-info

Hopefully with the newest software update the console will allow you to reconnect to Xbox Live.

Yes, i have plenty of memory. only using 1% of 250GB drive. i have also reseated it as per the instructions.

I get the error for 8007-045d and i followed the instructions to reseat the memory and it still doesnt download. I think that even if i download it locally to a USB drive it probably wont download due to an internal issue.

 

On the enforcement website, it does not come back with the SN. It shows the following error:

Unable to detect the state of this serial number at this time, please connect this device to Xbox Live.

The device is registered and i had an active xbox live connection a year ago.

 

uploaded the new upgrade via USB and now its working.
