Multiple Issues With Controller Inputs After Pressing Right Bumper

I'm using an original Xbox One and the standard controller with it. We bought it about three and a half years ago and it's seen very little use until recently. This issue in specific didn't begin to happen until yesterday (I've been playing it seriously
for the past four days now or so).

The issue specifically is that, at random, pressing the right bumper will cause all input for both the right and left bumper to not register whatsoever. The directional buttons/analogue stick are fine with no drift. The other buttons and shoulder buttons function
fine. However, whenever I press the xbox button on the controller to go to the dashboard, the up and down for both the d-pad and analogue will go haywire. Making it impossible to navigate, for the games and apps screen it'll be stuck at the top where the nearest
app is. The next two tabs will go straight to the bottom and stay there.

If I hold down the xbox button to attempt to shut off, restart the console or turn off the controller. The left and right d-pad/analogue will double input. With my only way to select turn off controller being to push the analogue stick diagonally in just the
right spot. If I return to the game, the original issue is there, but the directional buttons no longer have the issues mentioned. It's only when I go to the dashboard.

I've attempted power cycling three different times and it hasn't solved the issue. Sometimes the issue will resolve itself within 5 minutes, other times it takes 20 minutes. I'm completely at a loss for what the issue is because it seems like the issue isn't
consistent. Is there a fix for this? Is there an update that I'm potentially missing? Any help would be appreciated.

If it's relevant at all, the games where this issue has manifested are For Honor and Skyrim Special Edition. I heard there was a new update for the xbox itself, but I don't believe I've updated it, maybe that's where the issue comes from?

I would check if you need a controller update. Sounds like it’s an internal issue though. It may be cheaper to buy a new controller with an extended warranty so you dont experience this issue again.

That's no good! I'm not exactly sure what could be causing it, but updating your console might help. Check to see if there is a controller update as well.

Try delete Xbox 360 system update.and try download again.

- Go to Settings, and then select Storage

- Highlight Hard Drive

- On your controller, press the following button sequence:

Press the left bumper.

Press the right bumper.

Press the X button.

Press the left bumper.

Press the right bumper.

Press the X button.

- Power cycle Console

- Then take update.

There might be a problem with the console software update. To solve this problem, try clearing a portion of the update, and then download the update again. Here’s how:

On your console, go to Settings hub, and then select System.

Select Storage.

On your controller, press the following button sequence:

Press the left bumper.

Press the right bumper.

Press the X button.

Press the left bumper.

Press the right bumper.

Press the X button.

When prompted, select Yes.

After the console restarts, sign in using an Xbox LIVE gamertag, and download the update again.
