Multiple gamer tag accounts

I have a Microsoft account on this email for my old Xbox 360 and gamer tag. I recently got a one and could not think of this email or account so I created a new one where I have live and bought a game on that profile. Is there a way to merge this old account
with my new account I created?

Creating profiles...,

Has anyone created additional profiles on their Ones for family members etc (not new accounts)?

I think I have but it had just appended my gamer tag with a "1", I can't see how to rename? On my 360 I had multiple profiles for various 'situations' and each was named accordingly. Any one else?

So, how many of you are 10 year Xbox Live gamers?

I started with the xboxlive beta with the headset and MotoGP disk, but I currently have a new different gamer tag due to my associated Hotmail account going inactive, due to not logging into email, and thus preventing me from renewing the live account. I had to create a new account while I went through the steps of recovery for the Hotmail address. Once recovered, I simply stayed with my new gamer tag... Now associated with the old Hotmail account. :-(

This should not be possible. Are you actually seeing two different gamertags on your device? Where do they occur?

Hello all you have to do is click create new profile, then it will give you a option to choose a gamer tag.

Yes, I can say that it does work on multiple accounts. The premium "upgrade" is console specific, not gamer tag specific.

If the account is closed it takes 5 years for the gamer tag to be released. That is if there are no issues with the gamer tag. So if it was closed lets say 2018 you will need to wait until 2023 until it is released. They do this due to the fact there is
a lot of information tied to each gamer tag. AS this has been answered multiple times I will be locking this thread. Patience is a virtue.
