Multiple Consoles, downloaded games, etc.

So I have a Series X. For Christmas I purchased an Series S for the Boys. Along with the S I bought 2 game downloads. In order for my kids to play them I have to be signed into the S. Now comes my problem... When they are playing on the S and I try to play something different on the X it kicks them off. I thought you could be logged in on two different Xboxs at a time? So what I am wondering is what did I do wrong or is it not possible to play both consoles at a time?

You need to sign into the Series S, make it your home Xbox and then sign out and sign in with their account. They'll then be able to access the games and subscriptions on your account and you can play games at the same time.

Note that you shouldn't make the Series X your come Xbox anymore as that will remove the feature from their console and they will lose access to your games.

Got to say, that was the least painful update yet.

Turned console on this morning (about 5 hours after the update went live), both my consoles found, downloaded, and installed first time.

Usually update time is painful, with multiple failures, slow downloads, etc.

Yes, on Xbox 360 the license for the game is tied to the console itself, anyone using that console can play it, but you can't move it to another console without going through the whole license transfer procedure. Xbox One is a little more flexible, you can
share games with friends and play on different consoles and stuff because the license is tied to your gamertag.

You'll have to buy another copy of the game for your son's console if you want to play multiplayer. I think it's on sale now for about $10 though.

On the 360 the downloads are tied to the purchasing tag and the console it was first downloaded to. On that first console any account can use the content. On another 360 however only the purchasing account can use it and then only when connected to Live.

The One is slightly different. If an account sets a One as its 'Home' then all accounts on the console can use it. Only one Xbox One can be the Home console for an account.

Don't know why Xurts thinks otherwise.
