    hi,

    i’m looking at getting an Xbox for the family. I know you need a membership to play online with other players/friends but do you need one to use the games regardless? My kids are convinced they need a membership EACH just to be able to play each other at
    home? Surely not? I’m happy to get the older kids one as they have friends to join but the younger kids don’t and just want to play each other. Can someone please clarify?

    You only need one subscription if you're all using the same Xbox. Just make sure whoever has the subscription has set their account as the home Xbox account. The instructions for that are here

    Some games require you to have a gold membership to play online but if you want to play single player games then a membership is not required.

    Games that do require a gold sub are fortnite, the division 1 and 2, pubg, apex legends....at least to my knowledge. Im sure there are more.
