Multiplayer one with 360 totally confused

my son had a one for Christmas he is desperate to multiplayer with his friends but they all have 360's. Can he multiplayer with them? I am struggling to understand if he he can or not. Will the one play 360 games?

Xbox One powers on but goes black screen.

Totally confused on how to do this. In not a big computer guy so canbskmeone help me out with these steps.

If someone is playing MP on Xbox One they can't play MP with people on Xbox 360.

And the Xbox One can't play Xbox 360 games.

 

No to both questions im afraid. The only thing you can share between both systems is the gamers profile.

 

No, this isn't an extra value meal that you just upgraded to a large but it's still the same thing. These are two completely different machines that play completely different games. Your son can't play multiplayer with people on a PS4 either.

 

He will be gutted. A very dissappointed 10 year old. Seems like ms have missed a trick here!

 

Not really. It's never been a hidden secret. Maybe ask a few questions in future before you splash out on expensive kit for your kids.

 

I'm not having a go but I'm with Mr Genchy above, it's never been a secret and I struggle why people when spending out for new consoles ( could be anything we buy, new TVs, cars etc ) they don't do a little research as to what they can and can't do.

Again I'm not having a go but the amount of posts I've seen on this forum alone in the last year when people have posted a thread like this, spend the money first and then only find out after what the machine can and can't do :/ I do struggle with this a
little but hey ho.

 

I think the problem is that as consoles more closer and closer to the functions of a PC, people are expecting to see them operate in the same way.

After all you can run Gears of War on XP, Vista, 7, and Windows 8.1. Across a variety of hardware.

It's not unreasonable to think that the One could run the game too.

Personally I'm glad that I can't go backward, Makes me forge on with new games instead of falling back on old favourites.

 

If I was going to be spending £300 to £400 I would expect to do more than just "think" something would work as I expect it to.

 

It is unreasonable to think the game would run, since its not advertised or offered that way.

Actually its not unreasonable to hope the game will run, but it is unreasonable to expect it will run.

 

Thank you to some. But to others please keep your opinions to yourself unless you know the circumstances behind the purchase. A Xmas present from a grand parent who thought they were getting the lateset tech. 2. Young boys who were overjoyed on Xmas morning.
As for me I am a parent who knows little about consoles and trying to get an answer to a question from my 10 year old. I was expecting a reasonable answer to a valid question from a technophobe. Not personal opinions on what I should have done!

You asked a public question on a public forum, learn to get public replies and opinion that's what a forum is for.

Funny you can use the internet to find a forum and ask a question but not use it to make sure a product does what you expect.

Be angry at yourself for asking the question the wrong side of a purchase, not for people offering information to help make your next purchase a little better.

 

No one replied to you in an unreasonable manner. Its a forum people have opinions. It was you who suggested MS "missed a trick" after receiving the answer to your post which provoked further debate. Thats how forums work.
