Multiplayer on the same console with different profiles?

Hello, I am new to the xbox world but just got an xbox360 (no xbox live subscription). I saw that with Kinect Sports, it looks like I can do multiplayer using multiple profiles (I have created an xbox live profile for each of us).

Is that functionality specific to the game? I assume that if my kids play Lego Harry Potter, if the game doesn't support using multiple profiles, they just play as the profile the game was started with?

multiplayer on same console

bought xbox points and bought tydro thunder hurricane. unable to play multiplayer keeps saying, "an active gamer profile does not have the correct permissions to access xbox live gameplay. we are on the same console. do we need gold membership. i have known
players to play multiplay without being a gold member.

multiplayer on same console

We are trying to play with three people and we tried both signing in as guests and it said something about no one is signed in. When it went back to main menu of the game the thing had the primary person sign in again.

I'm pretty sure it depends on the game. I haven't played local multiplayer in some time, but I remember when my buddy and I would play some sports games (like Madden or NBA games) they required a second profile (I just made a dummy second profile on my console
for him).

Other games, like that Lara Croft arcade game, I just signed into my main profile and then you could add a second player.

Looking on the back of the game box shows the variations in the way the game can be played,

ie, single player, players 1-4, system link, on-line multi-player, etc.

When it shows that a game can be played by more than one player then that is usually a split screen option were upto four profiles can play the same at the same time.

Hello,

Your able to put your profile on multiple consoles. The only restriction is that same profile can only be signed in once regardless of where it's downloaded, so you can only use the profile on either Xbox and you won't have to download the profile again each
time.
