Multiplayer in gears 2 & 3 on Xbox one with backwards compatability

Hi Everybody,

Could anyone tell me why I can't invite a friend or friends to a game of gears of war 2 or 3 when playing multiplayer.

when I open up the multiplayer or story section and move over to invite a friend, they do not appear at all even though they are on their console at the time.

the only way we can seem to play together is search a game at the same time and pray we get put in the same game which is very frustrating.

Am I doing something wrong or is this not possible on backwards compatability

If this isn't available to do at the current time, will it be sorted in the future?

When can I play Gears of war 2 on Xbox one -_-

Gears of War 2 is available now on the backwards compatability for xbox one, if you pre-ordered the Gears of War remaster for xbox one you should have received codes as a verification of this.

 

Hey, TRU3 BLU3 BOY! Are your friends set up as Offline on their consoles at all? This could cause you not being able to find them when trying to invite for multiplayer. Have you also tried to invite them to a party through the 360 Guide? You can do this
by pressing the Menu and View buttons on your controller at the same time while in Gears 2 or 3.

My other question is if it does the same thing in Gears 1 or Judgement? We'll want to look into it even if it's not, but it would be interesting to know if it's affecting all of the games.

 

Hi, no, all my friends are showing joinable and online on their consoles. It is happening on all gears titles that have been playing using the download codes that were received for playing gears ultimate on the Xbox one.

Is isn't just one friend, it's any friend that seems to be playing the original titles on their Xbox ones.

It is also the same for them as well, they can invite me to a party via the dashboard on the Xbox one but when it comes to the invite for a game, it doesn't show me to invite and the option at the bottom of the multiplayer lobby screen that states "invite
party to game" is greyed out and is unavailable.

Do any of you guys have any NAT issues or are on the same internet provider and in the same city? If you have a moderate NAT, I want to work with you to get that to Open. This is the only thing I can think of on the customer side that could affect this,
so I'd like to explore that a little more before jumping into other options.

Ok, right I've asked everyone to check their online status and NAT and everything is ok on their consoles. It simply has no option to invite anyone to a game lobby who are playing on an Xbox one and will not show them as online in the game lobby itself yet
it does show them online on the Xbox one dashboard but the heading invite to game is greyed out and unavailable. Think this needs an update to sort it

Backwards Compatibility Survey so the appropriate teams will have information regarding this issue. Huge bonus points if you get your friends to fill that out as well!

In the meantime, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Gears of War games? I would also give that a shot, and pass that info to your friends as well, to see if that improves anything.

I will get this filled out and sent, can I ask, if I uninstall the games will I be able to reinstall as they were codes that have now been used and surely it won't let me use those codes again. I must admit I find it hard to believe an error has occured
whilst downloading as its not just me with this issue but my friends as well

 

Once you use those codes, the digital license is tied to your account. That means you can uninstall and reinstall from 'My games & apps' on the Xbox One console. We've seen some success from users with online related issues after simply uninstalling and
reinstalling the game, so I wanted to offer that as a solution to see if it helps you and your friends out as well.
