Multiplayer Connection Issue

Hi,

I recently upgraded my modem and now have real multiplayer issues I cannot seem to sort. I have a Netcomm NB6 Modem/Router and then a Netgear R6220 Wifi Router. Initially i had a double nat issue so the NB6 was put into Bridge Mode which sorted that.

Now i keep being unable to connect to multiplayer randomly. On COD WW2 for example i can get to the game lobby and sometimes its fine and others i get kicked to the Xbox One home screen. Its happening very frequently and nobody seems to know why. Any assistance
would be great.

Honestly never had this issue myself, and I know almost nothing about networking. But I can suggest you reset your router and modem if you can. If that doesn't work well I don't have more advice.

I think I might know what the problem is. You stated that you have both the "Netcomm NB6 Modem/Router and then a Netgear R6220 Wifi Router". Well, the issue may be that your new Modem is actually a Modem and Wifi router in one. So it is able to receive
internet from your service provider as well as send it around your house. Your external wifi router (Netgear R6220) is trying to send out the same signal as well causing a Double NAT. So, remove the external wifi router and just use your 2 in 1 Moden/Router.

Note: If your new modem/router is maintained by your provider. There should be a sticker with the names of the networks and their passwords. If not you can set up your own with the instructions provided with your new modem/router.

When i first installed it youre spot on I did have a double nat issue. However i did sort that one out and the Xbox is not saying there is a double nat anymore. The netcomm nb6 modem router is in bridge mode which sorted the double nat issue. But yeh everything
os working great except multiplayer on the xbox.

 

Not sure if you have experience with this but you can always contact your service provider for assistance. There are certain ports that need to be open or forwarded for Xbox live to operate best. Maybe you can check them out.

These ports must be open for Xbox Live to work:

• Port 88 (UDP)
• Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)
• Port 53 (UDP and TCP)
• Port 80 (TCP)
• Port 500 (UDP)
• Port 3544 (UDP)
• Port 4500 (UDP)
