    Multichannel audio through controller yet?

I've seen a TON of headsets out there for stereo through the controller, but where are the multichannel (5.1, 7.1) that the controller can handle?

I know I could go off of the SPDIF connector in the back, but that's not how I want to do it.

    :)

    MULTICHANNEL AUDIO!

Any word, rumor, speculation, etc of when we will get multichannel (DTS, DD) through our controllers?

Also Why don't the XBONE achievements show up on my gamercard?

I doubt it will happen. There's stuff said at the beginning of 2014 about them so if they were coming they'd be out by now.

That is a bummer! I understand that MS has a lot on their plate, but dang. I really don't want the spiderweb of cords and connections to get DD or DTS audio, but I may not have a choice.

Once you go 5.1 it's hard to go back to stereo.

  7. FYI most headsets are indeed stereo, just processed to sound like surround sound, then thrown a number like 7.1.

I don't think there are any that plug into the bottom of the controller now. All require the optical output. I'd recommend a good stereo headset if you just want the headset. Why microsoft doesn't have a "7.1" wireless headset that connects to the console
directly is confusing to me (sony has stereo headset that has virtual surround)

I've got 5.1 speakers but those make the whole room loud, so I usually revert to stereo headset with mic in line for chat. But IMO the best option to go.

While some headset do use "virtual surround sound" to achieve the effect higher end ones do process multiple speakers in the ear pieces. But having such small speakers in each ear pieces, a true 5.1 or 7.1 speaker setup will always sound better.

YES, Richiestang78. You understand exactly what I was asking. Virtual surround or matrixed sound like Dolby Pro-Logic are good, vut true Dolby Digital or DTS (Digital Theater Sound) is the route that I am pursuing without having a jumble of cables and wall
warts (AC adapters) behind my system.
