Multi player games you play together, not online

Are there any recommendations on great multi-player games. I'd like to play a gauntlet style co-op dungeon quest game with 3 or 4 friends in the same room. Instead of online

I also enjoy driving games, but haven't found anything with more than 2 players split-screen.

Can the community out there please help

Understanding different Multiplayer modes and What games are true on the couch offline multiplayer...

Please help, I am confused. Multi-player has too many meanings now and I am old school. Multi-player to me is where me and my brother or me and my wife or me and a friend, can sit on a couch together and play with each other like in the Lego Video Games.
Where usually 2 - 4 players can all play at the same time sitting physically next to each other. It's why I like the Wii, like Mario Kart or Mario bros or all the tonnes of party games they have for a bunch of people. Now my wife bought me the xbox one as
a present thinking I would like it. Except for the better graphics I am upset I basically (so far) can't find game to play with friends in the same room. We got Tomb Raider Definitive as it said multi-player on the back, and it's only multi-player if I play
with strangers online. We tried Call of Duty and its the same expect it has player vs player, but no option for multiplayers to play the campaigns together. Our xbox one was bundled with Forza but it seems the games now are going the way of in app purchases
games like Candy Crush and Clash of Clans but that is a whole other rant and rave.

For now I just want to find some good old real multi-player games where you can play the game (not player vs player special modes like Call of Duty) like you can together in all the TT Lego Games, which is why they are so popular and why the Wii is in so many
homes.

Help? Anyone have a list? Anyone can tell me how do I know before buying a game that it is the type of multi-player I expect? I am not looking to play online with strangers or to play special limited player vs player modes; I want games that you can play
with your friends and family sitting next to you. I wish my wife never bought us the xbox and upgraded our Wii to the Wii U or got the PS4.

Can anyone explain how to find or can list any xbox one games that are like the Lego games where I can play the actual game with people on the couch next to me and not online? Does xbox one even have any more? Not everyone wants to play online.

 

What problems have you ran into so far?

I can't seem to join up with friends to play multi player together. Keeps saying "game session no longer exists"...

co-optimus dot com that has a great search function on which you can adjust the parameters of your search by platform, number of players, minimum number of players, online co-op, couch co-op, split screen etc.

N64 Golden Eye was last game I played 4 player split screen. Shame that game wasn't a Rare Replay game of the 30 pack.

 

It getting hard to find local MP. It all going online only. And one day it will completely go online only in MP goes.

 

Next best thing is to do system link. That`s what the wife and I do.
