Muffled audio on XBOX One.

May 10, my Xbox glitched while playing multi-player game. When rebooted, audio is muffled, almost no sound effects (gun fire, foot steps, etc), but other sounds play fine. Playing on a Xbox One with standard issue XBOX controllers. Sound from headphones
through TurtleBeach adapter. Played this way for a couple of years, no issues.

Tried the following:

Hard and Soft reboot of the XBOX-

Disconnected power and let it sit for an hour

Reset the box, both methods.

Cleared memory cache (s)

Changed games, same issues

Changed controllers

Changed head phones

Changed all audio settings and then resetted them back to factory. (Chat settings, etc)

Any ideas on what else to check?

You stated you were using a adapter for your headset. Try changing that. I had to fo that awhile ago.

Thank you for the suggestion. The adapter wasn’t the cause in this case. I ended up resetting everything with a factory reset. Works OK now. Thanks again for the advice.

Doctor, That is a solid suggestion. I have tried that, but it did not work. I even tried the one without the safety net. Still no joy.. Or sound. BTW - getting my butt kicked in games more than ususal being completely deaf to the footsteps of my opponents.
Hats off to our hearing impared players.

Have you tried contacting Microsoft and seeing what they say? Try ask an Xbox expert.

You may need to reset the xbox completely, although make sure you keep all your games and accounts on the xbox. This will reboot the xboxs software but you won't lose any saved games or progress.
