MSFS update issues what do I do?

It might be possible that the update was not completed due to your storage and you may need to free up some space.

If I may ask, may I know which device are you playing your game, is it on Windows PC or Xbox console?

If you're playing the game on an Xbox console, to manage both your internal and external storage:

Press the Xbox button  on your controller to open the guide.

Select Profile & System> Settings > System > Storage Devices.

On the Storage devices screen, a graphic for each drive displays the percentage of space used and available free space.

Several other options can help you to free up space:

Press the Xbox button  on your controller to open the guide.

Select Profile & System> Settings > System > Storage.

On the Manage storage devices screen, select:

Clear local saved games. This deletes games saved to your hard drive, but they’ll still be saved to the cloud.

Clear local Xbox 360 storage. This deletes Xbox 360 games saved locally, but they’ll remain in the cloud.

I can see that you are not getting updates from MSFS2020 through the Microsoft Store. Upon checking on this issue, this occurrence is listed as a known issue.

If the refund was approved by Xbox more than 5 business days ago (taking into account that Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays are not business days), and you have received an email notifying you of the approval, then please respond to that email. Ok. That allowed MSFS to start. Now MSFS is giving me a message that a required update is needed and to update from the Microsoft store. But I've run the updates from the store and it says everything is up to date and MSFS doesn't give me an option to trigger a manual update.

So now what?
