MS not Covering me despite my console not being under Warranty

Standard warranty is 12 months. Unless extended warranty is purchased which maybe the case for your friend

 

So from gathering the information you have provided. You are in South Africa. You purchased an xbox one console from Amazon US. The manufacturers warranty would only be valid in the US. You get the out of warranty out of region option because of that

 

Basically what the others mentioned when you buy an console out of region you take the risk

And yes the warranty is only honoured in region this also applies with amazon

If your friends purchased a extended warranty like I did it does only come with a year warranty

And no there is no e3 3 year announcement

If you can provide someone address in the US the warranty would be honoured as most companies

And yes warranties are region specific as they wouldn't have a us xbox in South africa

If your "friends bought extended warranty and i n southn Africa then they would be covered under south African warranty

This is in your documentation

You should've followed your friends example and purchased a console in region

Or if they had a friend in the usa

If they purchased out of region it wontnshow up as out of region until.tjeu try and claim us warranty out of region

My xbox one s is covered under 3 years bit only because I bought the extended warranty and yes it shows up on my xbox account

 

Did you buy the xbox from a thrid party on amazon? If so you might have bought a console that was sold inna diffrent region. I would contact the seller.
