    MS Harddisk stability question

    Hello folks,

I have a MS 250gb HDD And I am facing two issues,

    • Every time there's a power failure (abrupt lights out) the hard disk always corrupts and I always have to reformat. Does everyone else have the same behavior?
    • Despite a 5mbps connection, my xbox would take very long (12 hours) to download a 5gb game To HDD. I downloaded a trial game to the internal storage and it was much more faster. Has anyone faced slow writes?
    • How do I tell if my MS harddrive is not a counterfeit?
thanks a whole bunch in advance folks!

    :)

Could me a broken harddisk. If it happens again, remove your harddisk and connect it again.

Could also be caused by a bad connection between the harddisk and the xbox.

  3. E68 Standart by Slim 4GB and 320GB Harddisk !?

    Hallo Microsoft,

i have two 320GB Harddisk and installed in my Slim 4GB Model. At the first start and using no problem, by the second start and using was the harddisk dead !!! The second Harddisk lives one day, great Microsoft.

What is the Problem with E68 ? Is the Slim 4GB incompatible with the 320GB harddisk ?! Or is in Germany a damage Charge of 320GB Harddisk in
    circulation ?!

That does sound like an odd issue and could suggest that it is a third party drive.

The easiest way to find out if it is a counterfeit drive is to purchase (or borrow if you can) an Xbox Original game that is on the backwards compatibility list.

    support.xbox.com/.../backward-compatibility

If the game will not play then the drive is 3rd party as 3rd party drives do not have the necessary firmware to run originals.

Also, if you purchased the drive from an online source such as Amazon or Ebay then you have a good chance of having a 3rd party drive as well.

    1. No. That's not normal behavior for a hard drive.

    2. Slow writes could be a few different issues, but it sounds like there already is an issue with the hard drive so it is possible it's just the drives fault.

    3. If you bought the hard drive used, or from a third party like ebay, chances are high that it's a knock off. If you can try playing an original Xbox game with the hard drive, that will tell you for sure. Original games require an official hard drive in
order to run. If the drive is no official, it will not work.

    E68 Standart by Slim 4GB and 320GB Harddisk !?

I think my Xbox is OK, then my old 250GB Harddisk run with non Problems or error's. I think by my retailer is a damage batch on harddisk's. I must look now for a newer charge of the 32gb harddisks.
