MS collecting data for political ads on Xbox Live

No i should have clarified, why is it bad, that these things are advertised?? Im just curious why you think its bad. I understand he does not want to see it hear.

If I read it right they are collecting data on the ads.

Basically that gives whoever spends more money for exclusive ads on Xbox a distinct advantage....it's just knowledge that could be used to manipulate a victory.

I don't mind ads, as long as LIVE isn't full of them, but I've never been ok with the collecting of data from me just doing what I'm doing. It's why I don't use Facebook a lot.

 

I do not use facebook at all. I did not think of it that way yea that sounds shady. Cause i was thinking it was kind of good. Awareness is key and not voting is like voting for the opposition.

Also i think you can turn the feature off so the data is not collected from ones self

 

There are specific country forums aswell. Including Canada, UK, and USA.

This is the generic one, that a lot of people start in, because you get here from the xbox.com main site. Personally i prefer it.

And someone said about US politics being a money driven by advertising and i agree. It wastes a lot of money, that could be used on poor or homeless, or sick.

 

I don't see an issue with MS drumming up political ad business. It's a win-win. MS gets money, gamers get legitimized as a demographic.

 

This is MS's property which we all pay to access..... they can do what they like.

 

You're absolutely right. And if we don't like what they're doing then we can also stop paying for access. So far it seems quite a few people this gen have done just that.

In 2012, Live Gold accounted for around ~850 million USD in revenue for MS. There is no indication that number has gone down.

 

I was referring more to the current gen console's sales numbers, hence why I said "this gen". So yes, I do have proof.

 

Console sales vs Live membership sales are not comparable. Sales figures of the X1 (from whoever you want to listen to) do not indicate less Gold memberships being sold.

X1 sales most certainly are comparable with LIVE subscriptions. With more people purchasing the PS4 and less purchasing the X1, that means Xbox LIVE sales are going to suffer. It's simple cause and effect. If the X1 had sold as well as the PS4 so far then
that's roughly 2 million more LIVE subscribers that they would have right now. Obviously people aren't going to keep subscribing if they're not using a MS console.

 

Sales difference is around 3 millions and climbing not 2 millions
