MS account & profile different???

I recently bought an XBox One, and set up a profile. The XBox One was not what I wanted, and downgraded to XBox 360. Now when I log in to XBox Live, a message appears saying - This Microsoft Account is associated with a different XBox Live Profile. Try a
different account. What am I doing wrong???

Changing email addresses on a profile .

To WPAK , the money shouldn't be an issue , you are informed before the swap that money will not transfer . As for the " non MS account email " , I've seen something similar to that but can't remember where , & other than Apple email I don't of any other
service . Each profile can only have one email account associated to it ; I have 2 profiles , one with a working email address & the problem profile with the outdated ( but verified ) address . When I first attempted the swap I tried to use the working address
from the other profile & was told I needed another account not associated with a profile . I made another email account but it's not working . The accounts I'm working with are cox.net ( the expired one , associated with #1 profile ) , gmail.com ( associated
with #2 profile ) , & outlook.com ( the address I want to swap to profile #1 ) . Profile #1 has all of the achievements that took me years to get , profile #2 is secondary , for my little nephews to use when they're visiting . I've gone to a MS support service
& asked about swapping out alias's in my cox.net account ( & then deleting cox , making outlook the primary )& how that would effect my profile . Waiting for an answer , will post it here when I get it .

Help with account management

Hello,

I have 2 microsoft accounts each with its own xbox live profile (gamertag).

I would like to do the following:

1) delete the xbox live profile from MS account 1

2) move xbox live profile from MS account 2 to MS account 1

3) delete MS account 2

OR

Simply merge both accounts

Hi,

Unfortunately you can't switch a profile to a different MS account from the Xbox One, currently the only way to do it is from an Xbox 360:

- Move your Gamertag to another MS account

Do you mean move it to another Xbox Profile/MS account?

Or just to a different Xbox console?

you can only remove an xbox live account from a Microsoft account, by moving the profile to a different Microsoft account.

So the way to go is:

1 download the profile that is currently on the Microsoft Account to a Microsoft console

2 wait 30 days (after a profile is downloaded it can only be moved to a different MS account after 30 days (this is a security measure.

3 Create a new Microsoft account (be sure not to use if on a windows phone, windows 8 pc, xbox console, or xbox.com)

4 Move the profile on the MS account to that newly created MS account

5 Now you should be able to move your 'old' profile to that just freed up Microsoft Account.

If you press the guide button ( large button in the centre of the controller ) do you not see the download profile option at all ? If not press X to sign out of any profile that is signed in and then you should at least see the download profile option.
