Thanks for coming to the forums. You are able to move the external drive to the new console with no issues. As they are both Xbox one gen consoles. You will have to redownload your profile on the new console, but everything else will be accessible once you
download the profile. Here is a
guide for setting up a Xbox one X console.

Congrats on upgrading!! You will love your new Xbox one X. Here is a step by step video on how to backup your original Xbox
one settings before upgrading to your new console. Also make sure to move any installed games in the internal storage
to the external hard drive. Once the backup is completed, all you have to do is connect your external drive to the new console before turning it on and follow the instructions on the screen. The Xbox will detect the backed up settings and will ask if you
want to apply them.

All you have to do is download your account onto the new Xbox and let the gaming begin! As for external storage just make sure the system is fully shut down then remove.

everything on the external drive will be fine just plug the drive to your new xbox and the games will run just fine

as for your account and save game you just need to connect your account (xbox live profile/microsoft account) to your new xbox and it will pull the save from cloud storage (all your xbox one game progression are stored in your cloud storage and synced with
your xbox(s) )
