Moving overseas

Im moving to Canada next year from Australia and i have several games purchased from the xbox store and stored on a external HDD. Am i able to take the HDD with me and continue playing these games on a new Xbox in Canada or would i have to re-purchase
them again?

I am sorry your having issues, but you were tolls the correct thing, and that is to move your account, if you forget or don't have the email address it was initially setup, then that limits most things you can do on your xbox, hence moving emails is the
correct choice again.

The reason you couldn't put a credit card on is because the address of where you live and the account region has to be the same, the fact that I assume your address is a Swedish account and not an American one, is why you get an invalid address. You have
to remember most things on consoles are region locked from games to the marketplace itself, as certain content is limited to different regions, and also money paid will go to different companies, Microsoft us and Microsoft eu for example.

I have spent more time the last 2 weeks attempting to resolve issues with my xbox than I like to think about. I moved to Sweden a few years ago and have had all sorts of problems with xbox live. I purchased a points card a couple of weeks ago here, only
to find out that you cannot use a code from here on an american xbox. I contacted live chat support, where they suggested i migrate my account. I had no real desire to do so, because of the risks of losing my DLC and god knows what else. But it was either
that or just lose the money for the points. So I attempted to migrate my account, but cannot access the settings for my account because i need to verify that i am me through an email account i no longer have. Oh, and then i have to wait 1 month at least
to change the email account. So I contacted live support again to find out about other options. They said that they would migrate my account for me. They gave me a service request #, and said I would be contacted through my main email account. that was
2 weeks ago, haven't heard a thing. I thought I would attempt another way to add points to my account, since I am just out of luck on the points I already bought, so I set up a Paypal account. (can't use a credit card because the billing address is 'invalid'
according to xbox) That did work once, was able to buy some points and a game online as well. Now however, it will no longer accept my paypal account. So I have no way to give you money! Doesn't seem like a smart business strategy, making it impossible
for customers to purchase things from you, but whatever. IF anyone is reading this and thinking of moving to europe with their xbox, do not do it.

 

You should be able to take your HDD and play your existing games without any problem. Xbox 360 games are however region locked and few may not work, but all Xbox One games will work.

Also, you can migrate your account to Canada so that your subscriptions such as Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass will also be migrated.
