Moving my XBox Series S to India

As the other reply said, the Series consoles have an internal PSU that can automatically switch Voltages.

So, all you need is one of the following: -

1. A simple adapter to convert the US plug to an Indian one.

2. A replacement power cable with a compatible Indian plug on it. It's a standard IEC C7 power cable, also sometimes called a "figure of eight" cable, which isn't some proprietary thing, so they're cheap and easily sourced. Amazon.in has a bunch for 200-300 Rupees (2½ to 4 US dollars).

There obviously is a chip shortage - but the main reason for Xbox Series X not being available in India is just because of the below issues

(i) Preferential allocation of available stock to specific sellers in India, that too of very minimal numbers (not even 1% of the demand)

(ii) Promoting scalpers are able to buy them at MRP from major online stores (they buy it at MRP from approved sellers, and quickly list it at Quikr, eBay etc., for atleast 40% or more profit)

(iii) Microsoft considers India as a growing market, and grossly under-estimated its selling capacity in India - still keeps allocating all its new stock to American/Europe/Middle East market, instead of a vast market like India

(iv) Microsoft lets their approved sellers enjoy this peak demand, as even approved sellers selling at MRP tend to make better profit - hence retaining their seller base for the next product releases

(v) They would like to sell Series S product which has no demand worldwide, and easily available

(vi) Microsoft doesn't have a manufacturing plant in India - so they have to import products to India (which involves red-taping as well)

(vii) They will never take the risk of alloting more units to India - if unsold, the price will go down drastically, leading to a huge loss to their distributors and retailers

Possibly, even if they produce more Series X consoles per day, they are happy to sell the over-stocked Series S right now in India and redirect the stock of Series X to other markets. I also doubt, if there is a next gen console brought around 2026, it will also have the same fate - they would happily let the Indian retailers enjoy more profit, rather than add more consoles to India.

Both Series X/S games and Xbox One games that been optimised (I'm British) for Series X/S must be installed on either the internal storage or the expansion card. They can not be run from a USB connected storage device. My optimised Series X/S Xbox One games
were moved to my Expansion card during their update.
