Moving my child’s Xbox and all his data and gamer tag off my email account and placing it...

Hello all how is everyone. I hope you are well because I am going to start a heated topic. Back 23 years ago I had a child. That said child grew up into a little boy that just wanted a xbox for xmas. I bought my child that xbox in 2001 2002 and it needed
a email address to play. There was no way around the email and under microsoft code you couldn’t make one for the child. So like every other parent out there durning this time we placed the xbox under our emails. Back then xbox and all microsoft account were
not linked and I didnt have to worry about my child getting into my privet data so he could play his game. Now lets fast forward to the year some mad genius decide how great it would be to merge all our products into one source. So it would be easier to manage.
Well guess want here is the major proplem with that idea. Our kids grew up into adults. Now you have thousands of parents and there kids which are young adults now piss because there is no way to remove the xbox off our email accounts that you forced us to
use. This is absurd and just mind boggling to me. You have the technology to let us move this over to them. But refuse to. Why. Dont say because its a security risk. Because if that’s the case it’s a major security risk for me to have my 23 year old linked
to my privet and very importent email account. All because of a game console. If I remove the xbox from my email then all that money that was paid for his games is deleted. How is that fair to the children and the parents that paid for it. I shouldn’t have
to worry about someone hacking into him and be able to get into all my stuff. Because you refuse to let us move this stupid console off our micrsoft accounts. Someone needs to address this issue. I shouldnt have to delete my email and my child shouldn’t have
to loss all his data that was bought and paid for over the years, because of you refusing to allow a one time move of a game console. I dont want more ways into my accounts. I want his stuff off my account without losing anything of mine or his. This shouldn’t
be so difficult. Because if a solution isnt brought forth. I will deleted his console and I bet he will never buy a microsoft product again. Find a way to fix this microsoft instead of locking out the thread and blocking people from speaking. Need help in
moving xbox off my email without losing anything

    :)

The Microsoft account and the Xbox account are considered one thing regardless if you use an alias to sign in. You cannot separate an Xbox account from a Microsoft account. They are seen as one thing by Microsoft. Also note that nothing can be transferred between accounts. One of you will have to start over if you wish to use separate accounts.

Hi and thanks for reaching Microsoft Xbox gamer's community. My name is Josef.

I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft Xbox user like you.

Hope you're doing great today E

Answering your question, yes. Third party emails can be re-used to create a new Microsoft account if you choose delete them as alias from the account.

But just to let you know, if you maybe have emails on outlook.com (not gmail.com), those emails are going to be deleted when you decide to remove your alias.

You can double check all this here:

"If you remove an email address from a non-Microsoft domain (like @gmail.com), then it usually becomes immediately available to be added as an alias on another Microsoft account."

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/add-...

Hope everything is more clear now, but if you have further questions don't hesitate to ask.

    Greetings

Is there anyway to limit playing time when child is playing using my account

    Thanks for the quick reply.

He actually has a child account, but his 'gamer tag' is associated with my account. From what I have researched, you cannot move a gamer tag to a child account on an Xbox One. If that is not correct, any references to how to do it would be greatly appreciated.
If it matters, and I know it does for Xbox 360, I have an Office 365 subscription on my MS account. On a 360, that prevents moving gamer tags.

You can change the account email by following these steps i did a few years ago:

    1. Power on your Xbox One or computer and open a web browser, then log into your Microsoft account.

    2. At the top of the page, click "Your info."

    3. On the next page click "Manage how you sign in to Microsoft." Then select the email address(es) you wish to remove by pressing “remove”

If you removed an email address that served as your primary email address, Microsoft will require you to select a new email address as your primary by clicking "Make primary" beside the address of your choice.

How to add a new email address to your Xbox One account

    1. While still logged into your account, click "Your info" and then select "Manage how you sign in to Microsoft."

    2. Click on "Add email" and create a new Microsoft domain email address or add an existing Microsoft email address.

    3. Then, select "Add alias." You will need to verify your new email address to complete the process.
