Moving minecraft Micosoft purchases and Xbox account from parents email to my own personal...

Hello community here is a question I have for you that hopefully you can answer.

I have had my Xbox live profile for 8 years and it has played a huge part of my childhood. It has all my achievements, all of my games characters, items and progress over the years. The problem is that the gamer tag is attached to my parents email and they
wish to give it to me so that I can control it using my own personal email.

But the other problem is that If I do that it also will delete my parents email in which they want to be able to keep but just to transfer the Xbox gamer tag over to me as a coming of age thing. I know that on the Xbox 350 that you could do that with no
issues but on Xbox 1 you no longer can do that.

So I want to know why we cannot do that? How is that fair that you cannot change the email for it without permanently deleting the other. Most of us have cherished memories on these accounts, especially me, I just want to be able to transfer the gamer tag
and all of my achievements and progress from over the years onto my own personal email without it deleting my parents email.

If not then can anyone please put forward this so that we can once do this again please, it would mean so much not only to the Xbox community, but for me and their own memories.- Finlay Carter

Sorry to say but on Xbox 360 you couldnt straight up transfer stuff from one account to another. What you are likely thinking of was the "license transfer" feature which isnt the same thing.

On 360 when you had digital content purchased you were given 2 types of licenses to use the digital content. An account license (which tells what account actually owns the content) and a console license (which allowed all accounts on that same system to
use that digital content similar to how the "home xbox" works on Xbox One)

All that using the "license transfer" feature did on Xbox 360 was move the console license from one console to the other for in the event of if you got a new Xbox 360 but it wouldnt move the account license to a different account. The digital purchases themselves
would still be "owned" by the original account.

I purchased the Java version of minecraft from my Mojang account which was created with my email (the same email which is now the primary of my ms and xbox account), and any time I try to go to repurchase it on the Mojang website, it will show as I own it and need to download the launcher

Hi, around 2011 I purchased Minecraft Java for my son using my own email (this Microsoft account). So naturally when we migrated the Mojang account it got migrated to my personal Microsoft account. Now my son is an adult, and due to safety and privacy reasons we would like to transfer the Minecraft user to my sons own Microsoft account, and was wondering if that was possible?

Unfortunately nothing is transferable between accounts.

I am also having a similar problem. I have never had a parental account linked to my own, it was always just a parental password associated with my own account. It fills in my own email for the parent account on the xbox when i go to accept it but it wont
accept my password.

It's great that you want to make such an amazing gift for your friend's grandson.

While others already described how to remove your account, please help your friend make an account for himself (an adult account), and a separate (child) account for his grandson.

Some (grand) parents make the mistake of using their own adult email account and let the kid play with that.

However, by using their own adult account for the kid, the kid is regarded as an adult for the console, and the parent is unable to prevent the kid from talking to internet strangers for example, or limit the playtime. Also, this prevents the kid from going
on an (accidental) shopping spree, and buying stuff from the Xbox Marketplace with the parent's credit card or bank account.

So please advise your friend, that when they create an account for his grandchild, that he (or the father of the kid) should create their own adult Microsoft Account and then a separate child account (by giving the kid's actual birthdate during account creation).

After the child account is created, the parent should then go to
https://account.microsoft.com/family and add the child account to their family.

That way, the parent can set permissions and privacy options to make the Xbox a safe place to play.

Additionally, this avoids later issues, where the kid would be able to access the parent's email or other Microsoft Services, if the parents let the kid play on their account. Later, you can't move the kid's gaming account away from the parent email account,
without the parent's Microsoft Account being deleted.
