Moving Gamertag

I recently started using Windows 10, and created a new Microsoft Account to go with it.

I want to move my Xbox 360 Gamertag from a very old account to this new Microsoft Account, and I found the option on my Xbox 360 - but it either brings up an error (8015402) or says it can't move the gamertag.

I have the passwords for both accounts, I just no longer wish to use the old one, it was probably the first email account I ever made.

To make things worse, I logged into the new Microsoft Account to look at the Xbox-related settings, and it automatically generated a new Gamertag with a random name, without asking me.

Is there a way to fix this? Would the transfer work on an Xbox One? Will it work at all now that the new account has a Gamertag (that I did not want) associated with it?

Good Day to all. My son added a new gamer tag on his Xbox one console and deleted the original Gamertag. Now I need to access it so that I can try and get a refund on what he purchased on his xbox one. How do I gain access with just using his gamertag. he
doesn't remember the email used

Hi there!

You may only have one Xbox Live Account per Microsoft Account.

You cannot stack accounts. In regards to your randomly generated gamertag, you have the ability to change it once for free.

I'd advise using the xbox.com website when handling account editing as the console can sometimes be unreliable..
