Moving gamertag to new account?

Hello! Thank you for your contribution in Xbox Community.

I understand you want to use the old gamertag and set limits. Transferring the old gamertag is not possible because we cant merge two accounts and the original gamertag is already an adult. A gametag cannot be used once already taken.

Unfortunately you cannot unlink accounts - what is recommended here is to make a third "dummy" account, and use it to move your profile as follows:

"Old" Email

"New" Email

"Dummy" Email.

Move your gamertag from "New" Email to "Dummy" Email. Then move your gamertag from "Old" Email to "New" Email. At this point you can then just trash Dummy email, and your new email will have your old gamertag

EDIT: You can swap the accounts around to attach the Xbox account to the e-mail address you want to be using. Steps here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945419/pl. That's going to be more difficult if you've already created a gamertag on the new account, you'll have to move the gamertag that's on the new
accoutn off of it, then move the old gamertag onto the new account.

On a PC, launch Internet Explorer and sign in at
http://account.live.com

Click on Update Email Address

change the Microsoft Account address there

or

sign in on your Xbox then pick

Settings | Account | go two clicks to the right to
Account Security | Change Microsoft Account

http://account.live.com/ and clicking on the "Change Email" button next to your current email address.
