Moving Gamer tag from an old account to a new one.

Hi,

Many years a go I borrowed an xbox 360 and set up an user profile. I now have an xbox one s on pre-order and I would like to use my old gamer tag on that. However i'd like that gamer tag to be associated with the Microsoft account I now use. Is there away
of moving a gamer tag from one account to another?

So, how many of you are 10 year Xbox Live gamers?

I started with the xboxlive beta with the headset and MotoGP disk, but I currently have a new different gamer tag due to my associated Hotmail account going inactive, due to not logging into email, and thus preventing me from renewing the live account. I had to create a new account while I went through the steps of recovery for the Hotmail address. Once recovered, I simply stayed with my new gamer tag... Now associated with the old Hotmail account. :-(

Changin Email / Microsoft Account for Gamertag

I have ended up with two gamer tags for Xbox. One from the days when I used to play games with my brother and a newer one I created when I moved out.

Unfortunately when connecting my laptop to Xbox I messed up and connected my Microsoft Account to the old tag (I had forgot that I created a new one). This became more annoying when I got an Xbox One which now also uses the old gamer tag.

I would like switch over to using my new gamer tag with my Microsoft Account, both on my laptop and Xbox One. I don't really need access to the old tag, but am happy to set up a new account for it if needed.

Is there anyway to move the old tag to a new Microsoft Account, and move the new tag to my current MS Account?

If you are transferring your Xbox Live profile to a Microsoft Account it isn't currently associated with, I believe this article will help you out (step-by-step).

Please note that this will require an Xbox 360 console. Apparently this process cannot be performed on the computer or an Xbox One. Also keep in mind that there are several strict conditions/pre-requisites that the Xbox account and Microsoft Account must
meet in order to begin the process.

No, you can't move gamertags to new accounts. You can create new addresses and change the primary account,.

>> My old xbox gamer tag and everything else is under my mother's old email.

If she is still using the address, do not delete it from the account when you create a new one for your own. If you delete it, she will lose it forever.

ETA: you can't move your current address to her account either. You'd need to make a new address.

2) Current email with gamer tag I don’t want

I want to move the gamer tag I want from the old email address to my current email address. If possible, to delete my new gamer tag I don’t want

try changing the gamer tag on the old account then you should be able to use that gamer tag on your new account.

We are so close. I want my old gamer tag that’s currently associated to my old email address moved to my new email! But my new email has a gamer tag already assigned which I don’t want! Also, this is on pc
