    Moving game to external HDD - Installation Stopped


    Hi Guys,

    So I'm having the installation stopped error when moving games from the internal hard drive to an external HDD. The hard drive is 1TB and is USB 3.0 (here's the product - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bipra-S3-N...rnid=419157031&rps=1&s=computers&sr=1-10&th=1)

    It doesn't even start moving before the installation stopped popup appears. To confirm the steps I've tried:-

    • Factory reset
    • Moving in offline mode
    • Clearing cache
    • Formatted the hardrive multiple times
    • Formatted on Windows to include a partition - re-plugged back into Xbox and followed the on-screen instructions to format once more.

    1 thing to note

    Xbox is a day one edition 250GB (so pretty old). I noticed that if I plug it into the back of the xbox (both USB's) the HDD isn't recognised, however when using the side I ensure to format as storage and not as media - and it remains connected in storage
    settings...

    Hi guys,

    Problem solved. Turns out it was the HDD. Despite saying it was USB 3.0 and 1TB, I sent it back and ordered an official Seagate 1TB drive from Amazon for the same price, and worked a treat.

    Avoid the cheap Bipra brand on Amazon....

    • Troubleshoot external storage on Xbox One
    • Test the USB ports on the console, try a different External Hard Drive or connect a controller with a USB. This will help isolate the issue between hardware or compatible external hard drive.

    Slow starting to move games to external hdd

    I had support chat with Xbone support team about external hdd issues such as moving certain content.

    Certain content just would not install or move to the external hdd. My external hdd is Lacie Rugged Mini 2TB USB 3.0 (tested fine on both MACs and PCs) before formatting on Xbox One for Games and Apps.

    Once a game or app does not install externally it would not move to the external hdd.

    My 360 moves games or apps almost always successfully.

    This externally hdd moving issues along with certain games and apps not installing on it is causing major headaches. I also already tested with another brand which as tested on both MACs and PCs fine but with Xbox One it is becoming an issue.

    I believe it is a combination of digital rights management, account issue, along with Xbone system software.
