Moving from XBOX One to Series S (Disk Copy offers Trial Only)

Hi

So I was playing the Division II on my XBOX One (downstairs). I purchased an XBOX Series S for upstairs and used the disk copy function to copy the game from my downstairs console to the upstairs console. The copy worked and the game starts up, however it
offers me a trial only. I tried using up the trial but it then says the trial has expired.

I tried deleting the game and re-copying from the old console to the new Series S but I get the same problem

Do I have to buy another copy (digital version) of the game to work in the new Series S console? What am I doing wrong? I am signed in with the same XBOX live account on both consoles and I've also tried signing out of the game and console downstairs before
re-attempting to start the game upstairs.

I thought the game copy would allow me to play all my games on the new console. Do I have to buy them all again ? What is the point of game copy to copy the disk based games if they do not work. If they were downloaded games; there is no point in the disk
copy as I could download them again. Is it just this game particularly?

Everything you are doing is correct and it should work, and you shouldn't need to re-purchase the game.

This sounds like a licensing issue and the new console is not picking up that you own it. Have you tried re-starting the console? Was the original copy you purchased digital or was it on disc?

Yes I have restarted a few times and logged out/shut down the XBOX One console.

As I say Ive tried deleting from the new console and copying a 2nd time but it offers the trial again. It offers a new trial though as if something is resetting when I do the copy and start for 1st time in the new console.

The original was a disc version yes.

Are you talking about a digital install or a disk install ?

If disk install then it won't work on the xbox series s you need the digital copy either buy one or get gamepass

Ya what you did was skip the instructions

First and foremost disk copies cannot be installed on a xbox series s

Second you have to uninstall your install from the disk from the external drive first then buy the digital copy

Digital copies are completely different from disk copies

Installing it on a external.drive will show as owned but not the digital copy since you installed using the disk however your serirs s cannot validate without q drive
