Moving account from one XB1 to a new XB1, what do we need to know???

I purchased my son a XB1 for Christmas thinking we would share this console for a while. Well that "while" has passed and my own
XB1 arrives today. Looking to answer a few questions before I login and start transferring content to the new console. I have played many games under my account on his console and the games I have the most questions for is
Horizon 2 and Forza 5. I understand how DLC content works and I know I can re-download all that stuff to my new HOME console.

1. What are some things everyone should know about the XB1 when transferring content from one XB1 to another?

2. Can content and other items tied to my account be transferred using the USB drive?

3. Horizon 2 and Forza 5 gifted cars from Turn10, will they automatic move with the game save content? Or will they get transferred through USB?

4. Anything you can add from previous experience.

I cannot sign my daughters gamertag to xboxone . How do I do this?

My child has a gamertag on xbox 360 with a monthly gold membership. we cannot figure out how to sign her on to xbox one, as it wants to create a new account, and we already have an account. What do we need to do? I have gone to the family microsoft account,
found that she is connected to my email for billing, so why can't we transport her gamertag to XB1! We need help. she wants to play badyl.

Call of duty ghost i know everything transfers over.but i am hearing your leaderboard scores wont..so when you start of on xbox one your leaderboard scores will start from 0 is this true

 

neither me are my son use "the cloud" for our gamertag content and saves....

 

1. Every piece of content has 2 licenses. 1 license ties the content to whichever console is set as your "Home" console, so anyone on that console can access the content on or offline. The other license ties the content to your gamertag, so you can use your
content on any Xbox One, but only while you're signed into Live.

2. You can copy/move games from system to system using an external hard drive. If you set the new console as your "Home" console, then the first time you launch a game that you've copied over, it will refresh the license via Xbox Live so it's then tied to
that machine and anyone can play it on or offline. The license refresh only takes a few seconds as it's literally just downloading a small license file.

3. Game saves are synced to the cloud, so when you launch a game on your new console for the first time, it will sync the cloud save to your new machine, so you won't lose any progress. That's assuming that your first Xbox One was connected to Live. That
should be the case with gifted Forza content too as it should be attached to your gamertag, but I can't 100% confirm that as I've not tried it.

4. If you copy games and apps over to your new console via USB, then they will not automatically update in instant on mode unless you launch each game/app once to refresh the licenses. Once the licenses are refreshed, automatic updates will continue to work
as normal, so updates for games/apps will be pushed to the console while it's in standby mode.

 

You may not know it, but all your saves are automatically synced to the cloud. There is no way to disable this, so all your saves are already on the cloud.

All you need to do is sign into your Microsoft account linked to your Gamertag on the new console and all your data, game saves, and game purchases will transfer over!

2. Can content and other items tied to my account be transferred using the USB drive?



You will not be able to use a USB flash drive to migrate content. Your only option for migrating content via USB would be using a USB 3.0 external harddrive with a storage space of 256GB or more. You will then need to format this external to be used
with the Xbox One, and you can copy content to it. Since all your saves are on the cloud there will be no need to transfer saves, and if you do not have an external harddrive that can be used with the Xbox One to transfer your games to don't worry, you can
go to the Xbox Store and download all previous content you have purchased. Once you have a game downlaoded again you should be able to go to Manage Game and your save data will automatically sync.



3. Horizon 2 and Forza 5 gifted cars from Turn10, will they automatic move with the game save content? Or will they get transferred through USB?

These are most likely linked with your account or game saves, which will all be automatically transferred when you sign into your new console.

So the console isn't connected to Xbox Live?

With the Xbox One, AFAIK there is no way to copy game saves from the hard drive to another device, presumably to stop people modding them as they did with the 360.

The cloud saves feature is automatic as long as you're connected to Xbox Live, so the latest version of your save is kept in the cloud without you manually having to do anything. It will then automatically sync when you sign into another Live-connected console
with your gamertag and you launch a game that you've already played.

 

i may have confused you with that extra info about the cloud. we never setup the "cloud" storage on our 360's.

both xb1's along with both the original 360's will be online...

Ah, OK. Yeah, on the 360 it was something you had to manually do. On the Xbox One it's done automatically with every game you play.
