    Hi,

    My 360 Slim model with hard drive seems to be slowly giving up the ghost. I'd like to replace it with a new 360 E 4GB model. Can I just move my hard drive from the old console (same type hard drive) to the new without having to buy a new drive? Including
    all the programs, saves, etc. without having to reformat and download and install all my games again? Thanks for any help and info.

    Should I or Shouldn't I?

    Is your hammered Xbox 360 a FAT or a Slim? if it is a slim you could get one of those new E arcade units, slide your old hard drive into its bay and you will be set.

    So I got an Xbox 360 Slim with 320 gb hard drive, im thinking of buying a new Xbox 360 slim because mine sounds like its gonna break.

    My question is: Is it possible to use my old 320 gb SLIM hard drive in my new SLIM console?

    yes the slim and E have the exact same style hard drive just pop it out and pop it in the new console happy gaming. NOTE: that when you have a hard drive inside a 4 gig model it will always ask you where you want to save and or load game save data it is
    no different if you had a flash drive installed in a hard drive only console.

    Thanks! But how about all the data (games,saves,etc.) on the drive I'm moving? Will it transfer as well without having to jump through hoops?

    Hi there,

    if your old hard drives are from the same type as the one from your console console then they should work.

    A official Xbox 360 hard drive from the Slim consoles will fit inside the E consoles, but the origial xbox 360 console hard drives, will not fit in/on the Slim or E consoles

    Please see this support page on how to remove/install the hard drives per Xbox 360 console type:
