  1. Moved into a new flat share and can't get xbox live!

I have a wired connection (xbox to laptop) and always have. I just moved into a uni flat share, and now I can't get on xbox live at all.

The message which comes up says the xbox can't get an IP address. My laptop connected fine when I entered the password for the router, so I don't understand why I can't get on xbox live through the wired connection.

    Please Help, I don't want a multiplayer-free 2 years....

    :)

  2. Cannot Share Xbox Live For Some Reason

I just got a new xbox for my brother and want to share my games and Xbox live so I set the new xbox as the home Xbox for my xbox live account and then logged into his already existing account on the xbox n it didn’t share gold just the games. Then I tried
creating a new account and it still wouldn’t work. (I put both of them into my “family”)

    Zyxel FR1000Z is killing me!

I moved into a new house and Qwest set me up with the Zyxel FR1000Z router. I can't connect to XBox Live and I have tried every troubleshooting tip, including port forwarding. Nothing is working and i'm running out of patience with this. Until this is
fixed I can't get my xbox update and can't get my Kinect to work and I can't stop getting my butt chewed out by my wife and angry children who want to play with their Christmas presents. Someone please help me!

Hey mate, so are you using a bridged connection? If so you can set an IP address for the Xbox like so:

Solution 2: Set your console's IP settings manually

If you receive either of the following error messages, try the steps below:

Can't obtain an IP address from your router or modem

Your DNS server can't resolve Xbox Live server names

1.Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings and then select System Settings.

    2.Select Network Settings.

3.Select Wired Network if you are prompted to do so.

    4.Select Configure Network.

5.On the Basic Settings tab, select IP Settings.

6.Select Manual and then select IP Address.

7.Enter 192.168.0.2 and then select Done.

8.Select Subnet Mask, enter 255.255.255.0 and then select Done.

9.Select Gateway, enter 192.168.0.1 and then select Done.

10.On the Basic Settings tab, select DNS Settings.

    11.Select Manual.

    12.Select Primary DNS Server.

13.Enter 192.168.0.1 and then select Done.

    14.Select Done again.

15.Press B on your controller and then select Test Xbox Live Connection.

Also ensure all the right sharing settings are enabled, please see the following link for full steps when using your laptop to connect to Xbox Live:
