Moved from UK to France with my UK 360 and would like English content from Xbox Live

Hi Internet,

The title pretty much covers it, but I thought I'd explain my situation in more depth. I recently moved to France from the UK. Clearly I couldn't leave my treasured console and games collection behind, so it all came with me.

At first everything was as it was when I was in the UK, all video services, promotions, etc, were in English. I couldn't access any of the online content however and I realised I needed to change the location of my Microsoft account. I did this, which then
gave me access to content, such as downloading a free game through Games for Gold. This is where the problems started though, as half of the menus are now in French and half are still English. Things like game descriptions are in French, all the sections on
the Dashboard like "My Games" are in French, the contextual button actions at the bottom left of the screen change between French and English depending on what item on the screen is selected.

I've left the language set at English, and have tried the locale set as France and UK, but I still have an oddly bilingual Xbox. I'm guessing that any text/content generated by the Xbox's system is in English but anything generated by Xbox Live is French.

I understand that all my usual UK streaming services won't be available (BBC iPlayer, All 4, etc.) but is there any way to receive English content from Xbox Live? It's a bit of a strange experience browsing through menus or Xbox Live content and having the
language change back and forth all the time.

Well you will have to set your region as UK if you want English voice commands (or US if you are American) but you will anyway connect to the nearest active LIVE servers (possibly Portugal, or France/Spain). I know, I did the same to Switzerland from Germany
but I connect to Swiss, German, and English servers with my locale set as UK.

 

Change Xbox Live account country FR > US

Hi,

I just moved from France to California for a few years. And I would like to change my Xbox Live account country from France to USA in order to be able to access the US apps & content.

Will I face any content restriction if I change my Xbox Live country from France to US? Will I still be able to play the games that I bought and downloaded on my Xbox One with no issues like Destiny or ACUnity?

And what process should I follow to make this change?

I have the exact same situation, (I am now in Spain having moved from the UK), I sorted migrating my Gold membership to Spain and now my dashboard is mostly in Spanish.

I have just spent 3 hours on the support chat with a guy telling me repeatedly to change the language in settings and then hold the off button for 10 seconds, unplug it for 2 minutes and start again.

Obviousely this did not work. He then tells me the only other thing to try is a reset of the system, yep....wipe the drive and start factory fresh.

NO WAY.... I told him, I have too much on there and no way of backing it up. It then dawned on me that he had said 'the only other thing to try', I said to him, you don't actually know if that will work and you are going through the motions of a script.
I put it to him that this is something Microshaft have overlooked and do not have an actual fix for it. He said sometimes the system can take a few days to update from the servers with migration changes. My silent voice said, 'you are talking **** mate'. I
told him I will wait a few days and try again. It seems to me that Microshaft do not understand the concept of a person taking their console and membership to another country and require it to be in their native language. Absolute joke. Still....I suppose
it will encourage me to go and learn to read, write and speak Spanish. I would love to know if there will ever be a solution to this. Viva UK, Ahora vamos a matar a algunos gta V culos españoles ...!

 

Some content and apps may not be available or accessible in some locations. If your console is set to a different location than the one you live in, you may be able to download and install an app from a different market, but you may not be able to use it.
That app may be geo-fenced (restricted by physical location, not the console setting) and may prevent you from playing content from another country or region.
