Move Xbox gamer tag to new email

13 years ago when I first got an Xbox for my son, I set him up with a gamertag and associated it with my own primary email. Since then he has grown up and now 18 years old. He has built tons of progress on all his favorite games using this original gamertag. He now wishes to migrate all the Xbox game progress on this gamertag to his own personal email account. The current email account he uses is my primary Microsoft account, which I use to sign in to everything Microsoft, such as my email, office, etc. How can we move away only his gamertag from my account? How can this be done?

We are so close. I want my old gamer tag that’s currently associated to my old email address moved to my new email! But my new email has a gamer tag already assigned which I don’t want! Also, this is on pc

What would adding him as the primary alias do?

I use my account for everything I do Microsoft related, (windows sign in, office, email, etc) so if his email were primary, he would essentially control all of these other Microsoft services?

I only want his email as the primary for Xbox only.

Please explain what your solution means. Thanks!

Adding him as primary Alias means he'll be able to sign in and play using his profile. It also means he'll have access to other Microsoft services you're on if he signs in to them. If you don't want that, then please don't assign him as an alias.

However there's no other way to have him play those games using his account.
