Move old gamertag from disused email to new account (xbox one)

Sorry but nothing is transferable from one gamertag to another. This includes game saves.

Even with a gamertag you would need to initiate a gamertag change on both accounts. This would cost you $10 per account to do so and there is no guarantee that you would get the tag you wanted because as soon as it's freed up it's fair game to all other
users.

Unfortunately you cannot unlink accounts - what is recommended here is to make a third "dummy" account, and use it to move your profile as follows:

"Old" Email

"New" Email

"Dummy" Email.

Move your gamertag from "New" Email to "Dummy" Email. Then move your gamertag from "Old" Email to "New" Email. At this point you can then just trash Dummy email, and your new email will have your old gamertag

The thing is, that back then, when the Xbox Marketplace was made for the 360, they probably didn't plan things with the future in mind as much.

I'm no Microsoft employee, so this is mostly speculation, but since the Gamertag (in conjunction with your Microsoft Account email) is used to make financial transactions (i.e. buying games, addons and gamerpics) that are tax relevant, you can't simply remove
a Gamertag from an account.

You can MOVE a Gamertag to a different account.

Back then on the Xbox 360 you could really simply move your Gamertag from one account to another.

However, a few years ago, that process was changed in such a way, that when you now move the Gamertag to a new account, the old Microsoft Account gets deleted.

So, no, you can't simply flip a switch, and while it is possible, it comes with several drawbacks.

If you are willing to take the risk, you can
sign into your Microsoft Account, and change the sign in alias.

Make the other email your primary sign in alias, and then remove your old Microsoft Account email.

Your Gamertag is now moved from your old email to the new one, and the old Microsoft Account deleted.

The only way to remove a gamertag from an email address is by moving it to a different email address (Microsoft Account), but in order to do so, the account must be on a console for at least 30 days without it being downloaded in that period.

Besides that, replacing it with the new one, will also result in loss of the balance on the current account, since that would need to be moved too.

Sorry, but this is wrong. What EdragonXX is describing here is moving a single gamertag from one email address to another email address. For example, if I wanted to move "Zen Like Calm" from the email address *** Die E-Mail-Adresse wurde aus Datenschutzgründen entfernt. ***, to the
email address *** Die E-Mail-Adresse wurde aus Datenschutzgründen entfernt. ***, I would use the method that was linked to. However, if you have created an entirely new Xbox Live account (with it's own email, it's own gamertag name, etc), then there is no way to move any content from one gamertag to another.


Everything is locked to the gamertag it was initiated on, and can't be transferred. Sorry about that.

I should note that you will have access to all of the DLC from the old account on your new account, provided the old account remains on your console.
