Mouse click interrupting keyboard input while gaming

Thanks for the reply. I am using Windows 11 on the new ASUS ROG Ally handheld PC. I have a UGREEN dock so I can plug in mouse/keyboard/monitors. The game probably didn't have any updates recently but I think Windows 11 had a few updates. Mouse is wireless with a USB dongle, keyboard is wired. Mouse's battery is good, above 70%. Everything was working perfectly fine a week ago. I did a factory reset and installed everything starting from scratch but that didn't even solve it. I'm thinking this is a Windows issue, possibly from one of the updates recently.

So here's a list of all the things I've tried.

- unplugging, plugging it back in

- try different USB ports

- try a different mouse/keyboard

- running the Fortnite EXE file as administrator, compatibility mode (Windows 8), disable fullscreen optimizations on & off

- IN GAME: under display settings, trying the Fullscreen mode, Windowed Fullscreen mode, Windowed mode

- updating basically everything via Device Manager on the Mice & Keyboard sections (although there were no updates)

- updating graphics driver

- Windows updates

- Game Mode On & Off

- Windows resolution: the internal display is 1920x1080, inside the game setting I have it set to that.

I may have left some things out, as you can tell, I've exhausted every solution I've researched online.

By the way, I have another laptop with Windows 10 installed on it, everything works perfectly fine (same mouse & keyboard).

Just a side note, I might be wrong but I have a feeling that the game isn't exactly running in the foreground. For example screenshots won't work and gaming overlays will not hover over Fortnite.

After trying the clean boot, I found the culprit. It was Armoury Crate SE's services causing the problem. If I disable these services, mouse/keyboard works perfectly fine but I won't be able to access the Command Center or any of the hardware specific functions. I guess it's a trade off.

Did you try using a different mouse to verify if the inconvenience is fixed?
Are you using a wireless keyboard & mouse, or are they wired?
Are you running Windows 10 or 11?
Did you remember if the game received an update before this issue, or is this the first time you want to play Fortnite?

What procedures you tried to fix this prior to your post creation?

Thanks for the additional information, I can suggest some possible solutions based on what you told me:

1. Try removing the latest Windows updates received in the last week.

Additionally, make sure to disable automatic updates temporarily.

2. Try reinstalling Fortnite on your PC.

3. Disable temporarily the Steam controller input / Steam controller configuration via Steam settings.
Please restart your PC after performing this possible solution.

4. Open the task manager and go to the startup tab, once there, click “disable” on each program listed.
After that, restart the PC and see if the problem is solved

5. Do a clean boot in your Windows PC.
