    How to Find SSID (Network Name)

    1. Plug the computer into a LAN port via an Ethernet cable.
    2. Open a web browser.
    3. In the address bar at the top, type in 192.168.10.1
    4. Input the username & password and click Login (admin & motorola).
    5. Select "Wireless".
    6. Click on "Basic"
    7. The SSID will be listed on this page.

    How to Find Wireless Password (WPA/WEP)

    1. Plug the computer into a LAN port via an Ethernet cable.
    2. Open a web browser.
    3. In the address bar at the top, type in 192.168.10.1
    4. Input the username & password and click Login (admin & motorola).
    5. Select "Wireless".
    6. Click on "Security"

    5. Select "Wireless".

    6. Click on "Security"

    7. First you will see "ESS Authentication" Select the drop down field for options, WPA-PSK is recommended.

    8. The next field is "Encryption status" select the drop down field for options, AES is recommended.

    9. The next field you will be able select is Pass Phrase, this is were you will enter/create your wireless password (8-63 characters).

    10. Click Apply.

    4. Input the username & password and click Login (admin & motorola).

    5. Select "Wireless".

    6. Click on "Security"

    Changing Wireless Security Type/ Disabling Wireless Security

    3. Select Wireless on the across the top.
    4. Select Primary Network on the left.
    5. Enable the desired security mode. (To turn off the security, Disable all security types)
    6. Select Apply.


    MAC Filtering

    1. Open a web browser.
    2. Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar (Or click the link). Enter the username and password if the gateway asks (admin/motorola).
    3. Select Advanced on the across the top.
    4. Select MAC Filtering on the left.
    5. Select Clear All.
    6. Click Apply.


    Change Wireless Channel

    1. Open a web browser.
    2. Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar (Or click the link). Enter the username and password if the gateway asks (admin/motorola).
    3. Select Wireless on the across the top.
    4. Select Basic on the left
    5. Select from the drop down menu labeled Control Channel. (1,3,9 or 11)
    6. Click Apply.


    Change Wireless Mode

    1. Open a web browser.
    2. Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar (Or click the link). Enter the username and password if the gateway asks (admin/motorola).
    3. Select Wireless on the across the top.
    4. Select Advanced on the left.
    5. Select “54g Performance” from the drop down labeled “54g Mode”.
    6. Click Apply.


    DHCP Reservation

    1. Open a web browser.
    2. Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar (Or click the link). Enter the username and password if the gateway asks (admin/motorola).
    3. Select Basic across the top.
    4. Select DHCP from the left.
    5. In the section labeled DHCP Clients, enter the console’s MAC address in the first box.
    6. In the second box type in the IP Address you want the console to have. (example: 192.168.0.42)
    7. In the Host Name box type in Xbox.
    8. Select Add.


    UPnP

    1. Open a web browser.
    2. Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar (Or click the link). Enter the username and password if the gateway asks (admin/motorola).
    3. Select Advanced from the Top menu.
    4. Select Options from the left.
    5. Check or uncheck the UPnP box.
    6. Select Apply.


    DMZ

    1. Open a web browser.
    2. Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar (Or click the link). Enter the username and password if the gateway asks (admin/motorola).
    3. Select Advanced from the Top menu.
    4. Select DMZ from the left hand menu.
    5. Enter the Xbox’s IP Address.
    6. Click Apply.


    Disable DMZ

    1. Open a web browser.
    2. Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar (Or click the link). Enter the username and password if the gateway asks (admin/motorola).
    3. Select Advanced from the Top menu.
    4. Select DMZ from the left hand menu.
    5. Enter a “0” in the box.
    6. Click Apply.


    Port Forwarding

    1. Open a web browser.
    2. Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar (Or click the link). Enter the username and password if the gateway asks (admin/motorola).
    3. Select Advanced from the Top menu.
    4. Select Forwarding from the left.
    5. For Local IP Adr type in the IP Address of the Xbox.
    6. In Start/End Port type 3074.
    7. Select Both for Protocol.
    8. Put a check mark in the Enable box.
    9. Select Apply.


    Disable Port Forwarding

    1. Open a web browser.
    2. Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar (Or click the link). Enter the username and password if the gateway asks (admin/motorola).
    3. Select Advanced from the Top menu.
    4. Select Forwarding from the left.
    5. Uncheck the Enable box of the ports you want to remove.
    6. Select Apply.


    Firewall

    1. Open a web browser.
    2. Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar (Or click the link). Enter the username and password if the gateway asks (admin/motorola).
    3. Select Firewall on the across the top.
    4. Select Web Filter on the left.
    5. Uncheck IP Flood Detection and Firewall Protection.
    6. Select Apply.

    3. Select Status on the across the top.
    4. Select Software on the left.

    Through Firmware

    1. Plug the computer into a LAN port via an ethernet cable.
    2. Open a web browser.
    3. Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar (Or click the link). Enter the username and password if the gateway asks (admin/motorola).
    4. Select Status across the top.
    5. Select Security on left.
    6. Select “Yes” under Restore Factory Defaults.
    7. Select Apply.
    Through Hardware

    1. Plug the computer into a LAN port via an ethernet cable.
    2. Locate the reset button on the device.
    3. With paperclip/pen/toothpick hold down the reset button down for 30 seconds.
    4. Wait for lights to turn off then return to normal.


    Bridging Guide

    *Bridge Mode should only be used if you have a router to plug into the device*

    Bridging is done in two parts to fully complete the process.

    1. Unplug coax cable from Motorola.
    2. Hold down the white reset button on the back panel for 30s. (This resets all settings to factory defaults, including the setting that doesn’t let you reconfigure the modem. The modem will be auto-reconfigured once you plug in the coax cable.)
    3. When modem is back on plug in a computer with an Ethernet cable into the device.
    4. Open a web browser.
    5. Enter http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar (Or click the link). Enter the username and password if the gateway asks (admin/motorola).
    6. Select Wireless on the across the top.
    7. Select Primary Network on the left.
    8. Select Disabled for the Primary Network drop down. (This will disable the wireless features of the motorola)
    9. Select Apply.
    10. Select Basic on the across the top.
    11. Select DHCP from the left.
    12. For DHCP Server select No.
    13. Select Apply.
    14. Plug the router into the device and power cycle the network.
    1. Go to Basic Setup.
    2. Change NAPT Mode to Disabled.
    3. Select Apply.


    Known Issues

    If suffering from intermittent disconnections or NAT-like issues try disabling IP flood detection and/or firewall protection.



    If you have issues connecting wireless you may want to disable a setting called XPress™ Technology. To do this click Wireless up top-> Click Advanced on the left-> Change the dropdown for XPress™ Technology to Disabled.



    While this gateway is dual band, it is not able to run simultaneous 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz signals. Your choices are either to lock it to 2.4 GHz or to set it to Auto, which causes it to switch back and forth between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Make sure to select 2.4
    GHz.



    If the firewall is set to maximum or medium security this device will give out an MTU Error.

    How To Find SSID



    The easiest method for locating your network name is to locate the Wireless Information sticker on the side of your device.

    If this sticker is missing or damaged there is an alternate method explained below.



    1. Open a web browser.
    2. Enter http://192.168.1.254 into the address bar. (Or click the link) Enter the Access code on the side of the gateway.
    3. Select Home Network from the menu across the top.
    4. Select Wireless from the submenu.
    5. The Network Name (SSID) is listed to the right of Network Name (SSID).


    How To Find Wireless Passphrase (WPA/WEP)

    1. Open a web browser.
    2. Enter http://192.168.1.254 into the address bar (Or click the link). Enter the Access code on the side of the gateway.
    3. Select Home Network on the across the top.

    3. Select Firewall across the top.
    4. Click IP Passthrough on the sub tabs.
    5. Using the dropdown for "Allocation mode" select "Off".
    6. Click the Save button.


    Port Forwarding

    1. Open a web browser.
    2. Enter http://192.168.1.254 into the address bar (Or click the link). Enter the Access code on the side of the gateway.
    3. Click on Firewall.
    4. Choose NAT/Gaming.
    5. Choose service "Xbox live 360" from the service dropdown.
    6. Choose Xbox’s IP Address from "Needed by" dropdown.

    2. Plug the computer into a LAN port via an ethernet cable.
    3. Open a web browser.
    4. Enter http://192.168.1.254 into the address bar (Or click the link). Enter the Access code on the side of the gateway.
    5. Select Diagnostics from the tabs at the top.
    6. Select Update from the sub menu.
    7. Click the Browse button.
    8. Select the new Firmware File, click open.
    9. Click the Update button at the bottom.


    Restore Factory Defaults

    6. Select “Rest Device”.
    7. Wait for lights to turn off then return to normal.

    2. Locate the reset button on the device.
    3. With paperclip/pen/toothpick hold down the reset button down for 30 seconds.
    4. Wait for lights to turn off then return to normal.


    Bridging Guide

    **It is recommended that the following steps be performed while
    wired in directly to the Motorola Device with an Ethernet cable**

    1. Open a web browser.
    2. Enter http://192.168.1.254 into the address bar (Or click the link). Enter the Access code labeled on the side of the gateway.
    3. Select Home Network tab from the top menu.
    4. Select Subnets & DHCP from the submenu.
    5. In the main section of the screen ensure the field labeled Device IPv4 Address is showing as
      192.168.1.254.
    6. Select the field labeled DHCPv4 Start Address and change the IP address to
      192.168.1.1.
    7. Now select the field labeled DHCPv4 End Address and change it to 192.168.1.1
      as well. [This is done in order to allow only one IP address to be allocated by NVG510.]
    8. Click Save.
    9. Now Select Home Network tab from the top menu.
    10. Select Wireless from the submenu.
    11. In the main section of the screen find the Wireless Operation field, Select "OFF". This will disable the Wi-Fi signal broadcast.
    12. Select Save.
    13. Select Firewall tab at top menu.
    14. Select IP Passthrough in the submenu.
    15. Locate the field labeled Allocation Mode and click the dropdown menu, click Passthrough.
    16. Select Passthrough Mode dropdown next and click to change this to DHCP-fixed.
    17. In Passthrough Fixed MAC Address field enter the MAC address of the preferred Router. [This can be found on the manufacture label or in the router status page.]
    18. Click Save.
    19. Locate Home Network tab at the top menu.
    20. Select Configuration sub tab.
    21. Locate the IPv6 dropdown menu in the main section of the screen.
    22. Click to OFF.
    23. Click Save.

    Known Issues

    Manual Settings should not be used on the xbox when trying to set up port forwarding or a DMZ because this will cause NAT. Port forwarding is done via the MAC address of the console and is a better long term fix.



    IPv6 can cause random disconnections or other intermittent service interruptions. We advise you disable IPv6 if you are having any issues to see if this helps resolve.

    Steps to disable:

    1. Plug the computer into a LAN port via an Ethernet cable.
    2. Open a web browser.
    3. Enter http://192.168.1.254 into the address bar (or click the link). Enter the Access code on the side of the gateway.
    4. Locate Home Network tab at the top menu.
    5. Select Configuration sub tab.
    6. Locate the IPv6 dropdown menu in the main section of the screen.
    7. Click to OFF.
    8. Click Save.



    If you run across an error on the Xbox that say "Some
    Content is Currently Unavailable"     - It appears that it may be due to either a firmware bug or an underlying issue with the hardware/connection on this gateway. This message can come up quite frequently with this device. This will also be accompanied by
    a message on your computer as follows:

    Potential Connection Issue (Message ID: NAD-2902) The Motorola NVG510 device has detected potential problems with your DSL connection which may impact your service. This problem is often caused by a phone or other device which is connected to your phone
    line (such as a fax machine, satellite receiver, alarm system or medical monitor) that does not have a DSL filter. Please check that all telephone equipment is attached to a DSL filter and that all filters are properly installed (e.g., are not installed backwards).
    Click the "Do not show" button to permanently disable this warning in the future. Click on the "Continue" button to notify you in the future if this situation persists.

    In order to resolve the issue, it may be possible to navigate to any website which should pop up an error page with options to either "Continue" or "Do Not Show Again". Selecting the second option will fix the issue, however it is unknown if this is a permanent
    fix. It may be required to call the ISP and have them fix the firmware issue.



    Multiple Console Support

    We have confirmed that this network device is unable to support more than one console with an Open NAT.
