    Sorry for the wall of text I just really need help!

    Basically I’ve had my Xbox account for roughly around 12 years, as a result of me having the account as a child, it’s linked to my mothers email address.

    However recently the email address is claiming I need to verify that it’s me! As someone has apparently tried to log in abroad. Now this wouldn’t be an issue as normally you’d be able to confirm it’s you with a text message of course. However my mother passed away roughly two years ago, resulting in me not having access to any of her details/information.

    I’ve tried to verify online it’s me, however apparently I lack the information to receive the account back.

    I’ve been told to just make a new account, however I extremely can’t stress how much this would upset me, as the account has games which we use to play together, containing her scores which I would love to keep.

    Again I apologise if this isn’t the easiest to read, I’m just anxious/stressed about losing the account which means a lot to me, so any information would be appreciated!

    Sorry for your loss

    technically the Xbox account is the Microsoft account so in other words your Xbox account is actually your mothers, you will need to contact support directly to see what can be done as usually nothing is transferrable. these situations are awkward at best as i have been through this in the past and as with many companies they usually close the account and that's it.

    companies like Google and Facebook now have an option to set with what to do with an account upon the owner passing but i don't think Microsoft has that option yet.

    Unfortunately I don’t have most of the answers to verify my mothers account so I’m not sure how that would work!

    Do not worry! The new account is to get in contact with the Microsoft Team, they will send a link were you can put any email you need access to! 9n this case your mom's!
