Most retailers choose x1 over the other

No Xbox One for me. Microsoft did the worst possible things to push many of their 360 faithful towards the PS4.....it's literally as if they wanted to shed customers.

First telling us that we MUST be connected to the internet at all times and telling us to "deal with it".

Then changing this rule to once every 24 hours or our single player gaming abilities are disabled. And in response to the huge backlash they say to people without 100% reliable internet connections (or no internet access at all) "we have an offline console.....it's
called Xbox 360".

Then telling us we MUST pay for the Kinect and it must be connected and switched on at all time or the machine won't function. Then tell us we MUST pay extra money to play used games. And that we ONLY get 1 hour access to our accounts if we were to log in
from a friends console.

Then they go and slap a ridiculously high price on the console. The whole unveiling of the Xbox One felt like nothing more than a list of laws and demands. Even though they apparently reversed some of these horrible restrictions they still got that awful
mandatory Kinect bundled in with the system that increases the price and that you must be a PAYING subscriber to Xbox Live to be able to record game footage.

And worst of all the multi platform games are turning out better on the Playstation 4. And this will only continue even further if the sales gap between PS4 and Xbox One widens even further. Third party developers will just give number 1 priority to the
most profitable console. And this is already happening.

I currently own the 360 and love it. But for the next/new generation it's Playstation 4 for me when a title comes out that truly warrents purchasing it.

For the time being I will look forward to and enjoy the GTA V single player DLCs, Wolfenstein: New Order, The Evil Within and Metal Gear Solid 5 on the Xbox 360.

What made you choose the X1 over the PS4

Cancelled my pre-order. Not doing the whole "720p" thing, ESPECIALLY, on a computer monitor. It will look like trash on that. I can watch all the Netfilx, etc. on my 360. Taking the PS4 contoller guts and transferring them to the XO controller and experiencing
Next generation that way.

Something that looks better doesn't necessarily mean it plays better.

 

Doesn't mean it plays worse either. But when its on another console that is cheaper and does not force you to pay for things you dont want, and runs at full 1080p and 60fps.......it does not really do anything positive to make people want to pay for the
lesser quality product.

 

No one is forcing you to buy anything you don't want mate. If you want a PS4, then by all means buy one. But I disagree about the Xbox One not doing anything positive enough for people to buy it. It's sold millions, and It's doing just fine.

Good post Rubix. I feel MS started caring more about money and less about consumers and it ruined the good feeling I had toward the xbox. I'm still happy with my 360 and PC (thanks to Steam) for now.

 

Its mainly doing ok in the US. Though it was outsold 2 to 1 in the US during January. But Europe its being outsold by about 5 to 1 by the PS4 in the last few weeks where things are far from fine.

Bigger sale gaps = better quality multi platform titles on the leading console.

 

Or bigger sales gaps = cheaper console.

 

The European figures come from VGChatz weekly hardware sale figures.

Xbox One fans/owners seem to always say VGChartz are unreliable. And that only NPD are the reliable source for USA sales. However Sony cited NPD as their source when claiming the PS4 outsold Xbox One by almost 2 to 1 in the month of January. NPD have not
dismissed this claim. Plus US retailers have backed this up aswell.

The more apparently official NPD figures for USA tell a worse story for the Xbox One sales than what the VGChartz ones were showing.

And add this to the fact that third party developers are clearly putting in more TLC to the PS4 versions of multi platform games......it don't look too rosey for Xbox One.

They make more money overall but the leading console always gets better treatment.

The 360 was the leading console through the vast majority of the 360/PS3 era.

Here are some examples on what 360 owners got over PS3 owners.

GTA IV - both Lost & Damned and Ballad of *** Tony came to the Xbox 360 way in advance of the PS3 version.

Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion - Turned out better on 360 with PS3 never getting some of the DLC add-ons.

Half Life: Orange Box - 360 got a fantastic version, the PS3 was a horrible mess.

Fallout 3 - Turned out better on 360 and got the DLCs well in advance of the PS3 game. The PS3 GOTY edition of this game turned out so buggy it was unplayable to many gamers.....and Bethesda did not bother to even fix any of it.

Fallout: New Vegas - Turned out better on 360 and got DLCs well in advance of the PS3 version.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Turned out better on 360 with PS3 getting some horrendous lag issues that were game breaking. Also got DLCs long after the 360 version.
