More Playable Original Xbox Games

My family and I have been loyal Microsoft and Xbox customers for a long time and plan on continuing to be loyal customers. But one relatively new purchase we got late last year was the new Xbox Series X, which the main reasoning behind why we got it was because of what we heard about how it would be backwards compatible and be able to play all games from the Original Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, which we were ecstatic about. Before this point, we skipped out on the previous two Xboxes because we didn't have the money and because they didn't feature major backwards compatible capabilities, since we have a good functioning Original Xbox since 2002, and have been playing since. However after receiving our new Xbox Series X, only three out of our 28 Original Xbox games are playable on it. So now that we have it, we love how it works and how it plays but it's a real let down that only three of our twenty eight Original Xbox games are playable on it.

So my question now is why isn't there more? Something I've noticed when researching is that almost all of the remakes or anniversary editions of the Original Xbox games we have are playable on the Xbox Series X. So why not make the original versions playable? What I found was that all of the remakes or anniversaries have a single or a few minor updates or additions to the game... but if it's a minor update that shouldn't affect the game being able to be played on newer Xboxes or not, correct? And I’m sure many people are feeling the same way as well because of the amount of 360 games that are playable on the Series X as well. So could you please add more titles to be able to be played on the Xbox Series X? At least a few from the Original Xbox for now? Maybe to somewhat balance out the number of games from that console to that of the 360. Because as I said in the beginning, this is a major bummer and let down to why my family purchased the Series X in the first place.

I can’t get Fable 3 to play in any capacity on my new series x. I have the disc and digital version. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times and once I hit start to go to the game it slows then freezes and goes no further. Anyone having same issue or fixes

I understand the legal issues, but you're saying that Microsoft can't just take the already available update/patch from the Anniversary/Remakes and apply that to the Xbox Series X (as an update for the individual game) to allow the prior game release to be playable? Because I find that hard to believe and would think that this would be an option since the legal permissions from the Original Xbox game developers allowed Microsoft to rerelease the games as anniversary editions. But for the games without anniversary editions, I can accept that as an answer.

Microsoft can only make games backward compatible if the publisher/developer gives permission. Since some of those developer/publishers are no longer around, then Microsoft cannot make those games backward compatible. So the games that are compatible are the only ones available. We have bc we don't need a xbox classic in my opinion but we need more original xbox games be playable on the one
