More info on bluray 3d

Hi folks, I know this subject is dotted around on these forums but ive been unable to find a good answer quick. I am trying to convince my dad to switch to xbox instead of a ps4. He was ready to buy an xbox one and changed his mind purely on this topic.
Sounds like he is buying a console within the next couple of days so if you are able to shed some light he may still go for xbox one but he is not prepared to buy a 3d bluray player and doesnt want to keep his ps3 just for that.

3d bluray is live on Xbox one.

 

3D Blu-ray?

Sorry, but nowhere on that google search does it confirm that the system will play 3d bluray. There is confirmation it has a bluray drive and there is confirmation it will support 3d but this may only mean 3d games as supported by the xbox 360.

Currently a dedicated 3d bluray player (or a ps3) is required to play 3d films, you cannot do it with any old bluray drive, so whilst I would be highly surprised if it does not play them, there still has not been confirmation of this.

 

There is still no word on Blu-ray 3D support yet. There was talk that it would be added sometime after launch but there is no way to know if that's still in the works or not. I've not seen anything recently about it.

 

The PS4 currently does not support 3D playback eitherand has no ETA when it will gain support for that. Right now he will have to keep his PS3 or buy a Blu-ray player that supports 3D if he wants to be able to playback 3D movies.

 

Ah. He was under the impression ps4 has 3d support. Will have to look into it thabks for the responses guys

 

PS4 doesn't support 3D as of right now and I believe it was Phil Spencer from microsoft twitted a few months that 3D support will be added in the future, just don't know when, quiet sad that the PS4 doesn't support it when Sony owns the rights and codecs
for it, microsoft has to not pay for them but go through all the certification and contracts that require gaining the rights so it's understandable why it's taking a bit, here's a forum post I followed, its a bit old but check who all replied, one of them
is a representative from the microsoft support team and they confirm that 3D support is coming.

Do not compare PS 4 with XBOX One: That does not belong...

I can tell you that BlueRay 3D is coming. (not official)

Because in the current preview update (1408) is an Option to enable it. But actual the BlueRay-App is not so far. It will come but this is not a promis that it comes in the next Update....
